Discussion / Returning after a long time gone, having tech issues...

I have just returned after a long absence, I'm currently using a surface pro 3 as my primary computer. For some reason the game does not correctly auto detect my screen's resolution for full screen. Could someone give me some direction on how I need to manually configure FullscreenWidth, FullscreenHeight, FullscreenFontMult, FullscreenTileMult, and FullscreenMiniMapSize?

My biggest problem was that I didn't have an internet connection so a buddy downloaded the game for me, so I had absolutely no clue what was in waiting for me. Oddly enough I kept falling back to ADOM tactics, things running in diagonals to help dodge shots and never stand directly in front of a door you are opening, and they seems like they work
The change to the arena was both welcomed and annoying, cacodemon spawned next to me on stage 3 but I got it with my combat shotgun (thank you shottyman), the blue armor and the rocket launcher at the end are definitly worth the extra trouble.
The BFG in the city of skulls didn't burn that much ammo, 2 shots while the walls were still up and swaped to my advanced double shotgun (BTW shottyman still kicks ass) to clean up, got 2 fully loaded BFGs, 80 power cells, some shotgun shells and lvl 7 (tough as nails).
Is the Unholy Cathedral even possable for anything but a strict melee character? I almost killed by just the lost souls nevermind the AoD.
I only swaped to the advanced plasma rifle on lvl 19 because carring all that 10mm to keep feeding my extended chaingun was getting to be a pain and I ran short on shotgun shells.
I know I got very lucky with the Mortuary, it looks like it could get ugly very quick but the rewards are some of the nicest in the game.
Found a nuke on 23 but a baron destroyed it before I got it.
It might just be me but I like the pain elementals and the arch-viles, fighting them adds a major exp gain for a shotgun player but I need more practice to scum them (btw no decriptions or pictures?).

I don't know if I'd say I'm that good but I guess all those hours playing rogue, ADOM, nethack, and angband wern't wasted afterall. :)

Discussion / gambling at the wall

I just watched my brother take the STUPIDEST gamble posable and get away with it.
He entered the wall WITHOUT a rocket launcher, and next to no ammo, no health packs, and 2 phase devices. he used the first device and it droped him right next to the rocket launcher!!!! After raiding the room he used his remaining device and ended up on the safe side of the wall!!!! What makes this even worse is this isn't the first time I've seen him do this.
Is it just me or is he the luckest man in the world???

well my second run wasn't quite as good, was killed while focusing on the arachnotrons...
I sliped with the rocket launcher in the Halls of Carnage (does anyone know a better way to open locked doors?) and destroyed my first BFG but I lucked out and got another attempt
