Two teaser trailers were released recently:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lihPs4BoDvo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lihPs4BoDvo)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOaJjunb3kw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOaJjunb3kw)

Note that
1) Aspect ratio is 2.35:1, the one used in cinemas
2) Zodd in the second trailer looks about the same as the screen cap seen in http://www.animenation.net/blog/2009/08/18/ask-john-is-new-berserk-anime-in-production/ (http://www.animenation.net/blog/2009/08/18/ask-john-is-new-berserk-anime-in-production/)

It seems that it's been in production for a while now, a couple years perhaps. Whether it's a new series or a movie, either way it looks really high quality.

It's a movie, due for release in 2011. Not sure whether this will be followed by other animations etc. There's an official announcement coming on Jan 8th which will hopefully  clear things up.

Any news ?
I wonder if it will only span the "Golden age" story arc, or if it will continue beyond.
Anyway, found this fan movie http://www.vimeo.com/2740962 (http://www.vimeo.com/2740962), you might have already seen it, but what the hell :)

It's fairly confusing, unfortunately. The "reveal" that was supposed to come on 8th either never came or was just "yeh we're makin a movie".

The official news comes from:
http://www.younganimal.com/berserk/ (http://www.younganimal.com/berserk/)
http://twitter.com/berserk_project (http://twitter.com/berserk_project)

Occasionally you might get some leaked information elsewhere, but so far it's only been those few screenshots leaked last year, and the magazine scans recently that got leaked early.

I've read all sorts of conflicting "reports" on how many movies / what material they will cover, so I have no idea. I've seen poorly attributed quotes of how they intend to film the whole saga, backed by claims that Miura can finish up the manga within a couple years (lol yeh right). I wouldn't take any specifics seriously right now, it's still largely within the realm of rumour bullshit.

At the very least we're getting a golden age movie in 2011 animated by one of the very top animation groups in Japan, Studio 4°C http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_4%C2%B0C (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_4%C2%B0C).

Quote
The February issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine is announcing on Saturday that the previously revealed Berserk project will begin with a theatrical film that will open in 2011. According to Newtype, the 2011 film will be the first part of a project that will adapt the entire story from Kentarou Miura's manga.

So, it is now official -- there will be a movie this year, but as a pilot to filming the manga in it's entirety!

Official date for the first movie is January 2012, probably just covers the Golden Age arc, but if it's successful it'll likely spawn sequels covering later arcs thereafter.

The only thing I am worried about now are the voice actors, other than that it can't fail

99% of the trailer blew me away. The 1% that held on has complaints with how disjointed the horses and ground look during those scenes (The rest of the CG is awesome)

Pretty much. There are some slight differences in the subtitles, but that's it.

I don't understand all the fans in other forums complaining about the animation (or lack of) in the last version. Granted the artwork could never live up to Miura, but I thought it captured the tone of the story perfectly.
The thing that really excited me when  heard about this was that the story is going to end within ten years - I was getting really worried that it might outlive Miura.
Has anyone seen the live action berserk movie a bunch of Spanish cosplayers/media students made? Obviously Guts isn't quite right but I thought t was really commendable.

Saw the movie, it isn't bad but it is extremely fast paced, if I didn't know the story already I am pretty sure I would be lost in it really quick since it has a running time of 1:20 only. It should have either been longer, around 1:50 or possibly 2:00, or it should have been about a smaller part of the overall story and leave the rest for the other 2 movies in the Golden Age Arc. They did say, or atleast I think they did, that the other movies will be longer, so I hope it comes to that.
