Title: YASD - Welcome to Valhalla, brave scout
Post by: drugon on September 22, 2012, 08:00
Suddenly plenty of Elites and Stalkers attacked me in already (though partly) discovered sector. I used inc grenade first but that didn't help me much because of quantity and quality of the enemy. After that I blew up frag grenade but it was not enough also. Finally I understood that there are only two ways out - die horribly and die horribly with taking those bastards with me into the depths of hell. Well... To be honest I hoped that krak grenade wouldn't scrape me but it did.
What I noticed is extremely rarity of sawed-off shotgun and colt. I only found one sawed-off shotgun (but decided not to take it because of low penetration rate) and no colts at all. I think that these two weapons should appear more often. Now I play as HW and I have really big problems with ammo sometimes. Sawed-off shotgun or usual shotgun (primary weapon I mean) would help me but I can't find them yet.
I must admit that 5.56 weapons is a great addition into the game. FN SCAR really helps much at the beginning. And it is a great step forward to compare with previous versions of the game there you experienced ammo lack all the time but in the very beginning.

The shotguns are rare, but they appear from time to time. What I would add, are semi-automated shotguns (as a Primary or Heavy Weapons).

Actually, there were more ammo in 7drlplusplus and 0.8 than it is now, imo ;) .

I found the shotgun once, and it rocked. I got killed soon after replacing it (not sure for what). In any case, it felt too powerful for its rarity. I think (and I haven't played enough games to be sure, but still...) it should either be less powerful or less rare.

I had the sawed off shotgun once in a game where I focused on sidearms and it was underwhelming. Maybe with enough points in whatever skill it is that lowers reload times it would be better, but it didn't impress me much.

Rest well, master scout.

I find that shotgun do too much collateral damage when used. It kicks major alien butt, but destroys many crates and windows in the process of doing so.

Well, it is a good weapon (and pretty balanced, imho). And some time ago some people complained that it is too weak and insisted on changing it, and I had to defend its power ...

If anything, flamer is too strong :P .

Hold on, hold on! Why are all your skills untrained?

He just put everything into sidearms.

Blind as a bat I am :-P Next time a single point in Light Weapons will be a godsend!

Well it was not necessary cause even M4A3 with master sidearms skill is a great weapon.

Sure, but it misses some of that stopping power a assault rifle has. Those limey aliens are real spoil-sports, don''t you know.

In that situation I should've ate stim pack and run back as hell. I don't think that even master skill of primary weapon could help me then to kill all aliens.

Maybe sentry turret kit could help but I didn't and don't know how it works and what can it do.

Someone has to watch Aliens, or play AvP.

It stands where you put / use it and nails bugs with bullets when it notices some.

And games.
Never played the games much, so I have no vivid memories of the Turret.

I only remember it from playing as Alien. Man, I hated them with a passion. I hated the sound they make in standby mode. It's still on the list o videogame sounds that still scare me shitless.

They actually could damage Predator as well. And I think this is another thing that we lack in the game - turrets that are already in standby mode.
Sounds made by those while walking through dark corridors ...priceless :D .
