Win, DoomRL 0989 with sound.

Was firing BFG10K straight into the right wall(just wanted to see, how cool it is). That wall was outer wall of level.

Is it possible to:

1 - Make running not so fast, with some delay between every move and with possibility to interrupt running by pressing space(or any other key)? Like in Frozen Depth.

2 - Create string in DooMRL.ini to ajust maximum length of stored messages?

I decided that the most fitting difficulty for AoPm is Nightmare!: you can't kill monsters permanently anyway, also more powerups are spawned, also they are working longer. And i was right, it's pretty easy.) My 3-rd run was successful.)

Bug Reports / Negative exp in AoPm

Every time you descend 2 stairs, you gain level, it's ok. But with every level, exp of player drops further and further below 0.)

It's like i'm becoming more stupid with every second stairs descended.) Or i'm forgetting more and more.) This bug do nothing bad, but it's just weird.)

That was absolutely awesome game, the luckiest one i ever had.) Lots of meds, powerups, damage mod for chaingun on level 3-4, Hell's Arena was cleared without problems, only few monsters there even tried to fire at me, advanced chaingun on level 12, and LOTS of good things that happened to me during game. Only one note to self: if you have blast BFG in HoC, do not enter Mortuary, even with ultimate-killer traits(**), overmodded chaingun(***), 3 red armors, supercharge and 4 large meds. Note to Kornel: once again, read the message log, 18 of 18 hits, isn't that too much for EE*1? And all that Arachs and Commandos too seems to ignore that i'm running and that i have HR*2, they hit me pretty often. Recheck hit chances, i have a feeling it's something wrong there.

Also - changing tactics shouldn't take time.

* - very dangerous and uncertain location for CG player. For E-H difficulties it's pretty easy to clear it, stand on the far right side, fire 3 rockets to the left side, and then swicth to CG and fire into the darkness until there will be no more screams. On UV it's much harder because there are 2 AVs that could bring all your efforts to none. I cleared it only because i had 3 large meds and lots of ammo. But i lost all meds and lots of ammo, and got in return ARL(that i never used) and backpack(it would have been better if i had that lots of ammo that i lost). Will try to clear it one more time, if that time would be as difficult as this one, will enter it with CG no more.

** - absolutely great set of traits for CG player. Saves in almost all situations.

**** - imps are main creatures of DooM universe. Why it's so few of them here?

***** - yep, i entered Mortuary twice. When i entered it first time, and tried to change my tactics to "running", game crashed, and created level 22 save. Sorry, haven't saved error text.

** - Now because Arachnotrons leave cells, ammo problem is solved(now income of cells in this level as least equal to outcome). But i still think that 1 red armor would be better than 2 armor shards.

I'm not sure that you had heard about that game before. It's very popular in Russia, but AFAIK not much people in other countries knows about it. The main rason, i think, is because it's fully on russian and had been translated only partially. Strange, because there aren't much text in game.)) On project's russian page it's latest 1.4 version with editor and all features, but it's russian)), and on Home of The Underdogs it's 1.3 version without editor. It's working fine under XP, but in my case i have a sound problems, so i run it under DOSBox.

Requests For Features / "Long wait" key

Key that allows you to wait for 20 turns without moving, or untill you will see an enemy. Sometimes when playing AoB, you need to wait behind corners for enemy(sergeant, for example) to come closer, because running through open space is suicide. I suggest it could be used by pressing "Run" button, then when choosing direction, pressing "Wait" button.

After a year of work Glowie have released new version of Frozen Depth roguelike. It was second roguelike that i have played(right after DooMRL)). I like this game because it have really "cool" atmosphere, and very interesting gameplay system. I know that it's only mine opinion, but i like to listen to The Cure when playing it, this music fits this game.))

At last i have won Beta 1 on UV! It seems that in current version all UV games(challenge and non-challenge) have very high difficulty on first 10 levels, but if you survive them, the rest of the game is not a problem. With Triggerhappy trait and damage bonus from SoaG RL becomes absolutely unneeded for CG/PR player. Last time i used it was in The Wall, and after that i have fired only rocket or two during the whole rest of the game. CG could kill HoKs, Cacodemons, Former Commandos with only one burst. Other monsters dies from 2(except AVs, they sometimes needs 3 bursts, but very rarely). And 1 burst from PR could kill anybody(again, except AVs). Also i think that EE*3 is useless, i haven't noticed any difference from EE*2 in quantity of bursts required to kill anybody. Imho best mods for such game is a damage mod for PR(it becomes a really killing machine), and speed, or damage mod for CG(i haven't tried damage mod, i used speed mod from CC because it was first).

The most hardest level was The Wall. On UV you need to kill AVs first, or this all will be just a waste of ammo, and without Intuition*3 it's not so easy. I was lucky, just with constant firing of PR into the darkness i killed both AVs, but i lost all med-packs, phase device, and all ammo for PR on this level. Imho useless ARL and backpack(i had no ammo problems at all) isn't worth it.

Also i decided that such a character set isn't the best to enter CoS, so i skipped it. Mortuary i left behind too because i decided that it's sure death to enter it without BFG on UV.

Kornel, i think you should be nominated for Nobel Prize for creation of TERNGoD(Truly Evil Random Number Generator of DooM). Main features:
1) It generates many-many powerups on levels with only 1 or 2 monsters.
2) All med-packs and good armor are generated right next to items-picking enemies.
3) If no, then they are generated next to big groups of barrels. And it places an enemy that could explode them in position, when he would see you only when you are in center of this barrels. The same thing with powerups.
4) Lone monster, that was standing 1 square outside you LoS, will decide to walk in it only when you will try to reload your guns. And in addition he will be fast enough to fire at you.
5) When you have full inventory of med-packs, it will spawn more, and no monsters will pick them up. When you have no med-packs and are low of health, it will spawn them only for monsters. The same with armor. The more you have - the more TERNGoD spawns.))

And that's not all.))

Ok, now about game. It's really easier to survive in Beta than in 0987, but not as easy as in 0985. Damage increment of SoaG helps on first levels, but still AoMr is a game, where you need to survive 10 very hard first levels to get mods and traits that you need to make last 15 levels easy as a walk in a park.

What about normal game. Ability to apply 1 mod is very-very nice, it helps a lot and not creates disballance. SoaB damage increment is absolutely must-have thing for CG and PR players. CG with Speed mod and SoaB*3 could kill HoK or Cacodemon by 2 bursts without any chance for them to retaliate. It not makes any disballance too, at least on UV, UV is still hard and very luck-dependant.

Fixed Arena level type rules, it's like little Mortuary with a less amount of monsters and without reward.)) But now at least, without bug, it's passable and clearable.

I don't know, but imho we still need something to make game easier. Even with damage bonus from SoaB, UV is very hard. Maybe lower to-hit chance of monsters a little?
