Requests For Features / Infinite Arena
« on: April 13, 2011, 12:42 »
Fighting through three rounds is enough to have been considered beating the challenge, will grant the same rewards it used to, and is still all that is needed for the Arena Master to show up personally in the Chained Court. But why stop there? Surely the devil would not let someone go from his colosseum of blood so easily, not when the crowds demand more entertainment? Would he not much rather tempt the mortal warrior that has so skillfully slaughtered his demons, flatter his might and see if he could keep him for one more round... and another... and another...

Getting tired yet? Yes, you must be, after all this destruction, but certainly such a mighty marine could handle one more round! Each round brings out more and more enemies, each deadlier than before - up to and including arch-viles, which will obviously raise all the deceased gladiators from the rounds before! The player can quit any time he wants - and be ridiculed out of the arena by the jeering crowds - given rewards based on how many rounds he endured, including rare weapons and possibly even uniques if he withstands the horde long enough.

How about one more before you go?

Spider Mastermind should have been in the game like five versions ago. Why isn't it still there?

Yeah I decided to start carefully, since it's advertised to be for masochists and all-around evil.

Before him 222 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
 204 of those were killed.
3 of those were killed by something unknown.
And 11 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.

Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 4 souls claim to have killed him...
1 killed the bastard and survived.
3 showed that it can outsmart hell itself.

Mostly everything after Assault Shotgun was a cakewalk. Well, aside from the Spider's Lair, where I thankfully had 95% experience. Otherwise it'd've ended there. Would have gone for a full win except didn't find Invulnerability Globes.

A nice cluster of uniques. Some of them helped, others not so much.

I'm reasonably certain they're not supposed to give me 100% HP.

I've seen Nano Packs and Onyx Packs too. The Wiki is still rather incomplete.

So I found Cybernetic Armor, and I figured that hey, it'd probably also be pretty awesome since it can't be destroyed, right? Then, sadly, I figured out that it can still take damage and give zero armor points, and can't be taken off.

So I was pretty bummed... until I figured out I can put bulk pack in it. And then I grinned like an idiot.

And then, just now in fact, I found a megasphere. Joy.

I know too. And I've only gotten like one opportunity to use it since I learned, and that was a whole year ago.

And I didn't get to wield it either. Sucks.

I play Ao100 often, and always with a melee build, in the off-chance I might run into it.

Manga is infinitely more awesome, and it's not really all that mangaish anyway.

Maybe the level itself could spawn very rarely?

Also Femto as the end boss. (He will rape you. Literally.)

I disagree. Finding it is half the fun :>
The operative word being "finding".

Because finding Dragonslayer is such a pain. Would be cool if there was a level where you got it as a reward.

The level is all dark, like you played with the now obsolete Angel of Darkness. Demons spawn endlessly from the edges of your vision range. Beat them up and slaughter your way through to the end of the level, where your reward and the stairs down await.

(Of course, you'll still have to figure out how to wield the bloody thing. Also you'll get the Mark, but it's not like the demons didn't want you dead in the first place.)

Also the one time I found the Onyx Armor I was having the time of my life. Onyx Armor is awesome.
