I don't see anything wrong at all, in fact I'd be worried if this DIDN'T happen. Everything means every thing with no exceptions. There is no reason to deny this and leave in med kits. It's not user friendly but it works as it should. The nuke is funnier to learn this lesson with...

My first rouge-like was nethack (yeah, I know it's ancient) so ascii became my default, I honestly forgot stone soup crawl even came with tile as I only ever ran it in ascii.

FINALLY a win without a trip to the mortuary. (:
Game Hunter was right, tech-modded knives work wonders.
Necroarmor on easy is always a cakewalk due to the healing buff.
I hit every special level I thought I could clear for the early levels, and you need those quick for this. (BTW can I use a rocket launcher on a WALL and still get Strongman?)
I had a inv globe for Cyberdemon but I didn't want to risk the badges to try JC, sorry guys...

Honestly I think it is fair. So line of sight works the same way for both sides, if the player knows this they should be able to avoid it most of the time.
