Yeah I just did an AoSh game, and I pretty much just grabbed all of the packs and the chainsaw, then ran out and shotgunned everything. Not really a problem if you're berserk. However I took a break to watch some cartoons later and died because I was distracted :( I don't know what the arena master's staff does, I was afraid to try it :)

I kinda like just ignoring the civilian tower since it doesn't seem to serve any gameplay purpose, (at least, none that I know of) then again, I've only ever made it up to the 4th level of the towers...

Thank you Blade, it was a very large accomplishment for me even though it only took me about 5 days of playing the game (serious playing, look at my deaths) to get the hang of the game enough to actually beat it one time. Now to advance my rank!

This is my first ever victory in DoomRL; I played the game a while back before it had difficulty levels and it seemed a bit easier however I didn't beat it back then. I had a lot of trouble overcoming certain obstacles in beating the game, such as learning how to beat The Wall, dealing with ammo shortages at endgame, and managing limited inventory at about the Chained Court level. You'll notice in my mortem that I didn't enter the city of skulls, nor the mortuary, nor the halls of carnage. It's mostly because I didn't find the staircase to the Halls on my way through the game. I really need to pay more attention to those level feelings I guess. In the end, though, it didn't really matter as I plowed through the entire game without much of a problem at any point, except for the battle against the cyberdemon. I attempted to do the thermo victory, but it simply wouldn't let me use the thing. Oh well, if plan A fails, there's always plan B, right? :)

As a native English speaker some of the sentences in the game read very strangely to me.
Here's how the Arena text appears:

Pointing out the fact that the voice comes out of nowhere strikes me as rather redundant, as using the word 'voice' without attaching any sort of specific pronoun or name inherently gives it the quality of being disembodied. Adding to that, separating multiple speaking parts using " " doesn't really work that well unless you insert a line break, see novels etc. for reference.
In all instances where the voice is speaking, it seems that this syntax is used: 'The voice booms : "!"' where it should be 'The voice booms, "!"'. 'You hear screams everywhere! : "Blood!"' changes to 'You hear screams everywhere! "Blood!'. There are a ton of such typos in the Arena.
Past that, some of the trait descriptions bother me. Here's Finesse, for example.
Where to me, it should read like this:
Fixed redundancy issues and cleaned up the sentence structure a bit.
Son of a Bitch is also a bit misleading:
Should be something like this:
Son of a gun reads "at top condition", should be "in top condition".
Might I also suggest that the names of the armors be changed to "Light Armor", "Combat Armor", "Megaarmor"? That's pretty much what they're called in DooM.

Bug Reports / Re: Ammo stacks acting weird after I pick up Backpack

Drop all your ammo then pick it back up again. It increases the max stack size of ammo by 40%, but it doesn't automatically reorganize it, so your old stacks will still exist unless you force them to merge.
