There is another VERY simmilar game called Crimsonlands ... it is even more addicting thanks to several diffrent weapons and "perks" systemYep, it's one of the best. There's another game of this kind called "R. I. P", but it's plain boring... On the other hand, there's "Evil Invasion", which is good :).

It's commercial, not freeware, but if someone likes it well enough, send me an email (look in profile) and we'll think about it ;).

Also I envisioned another similar idea: "The Gauntlet" which would function something like this: Awww, great quake1 mod (now dead) immediately flashed to mind. It was called Project moon. You had a (rather small) castle with shop, selling ammo\weapon\armour\artefacts there, Heart of Castle and mine (gold was generating as you were standing there). There was a cave outside castle, where monsters spawned (in a form of waves). You get gold, weapon and XP from enemies... XP could be used either for damage boost or for MaxHP increase. Your goal was not to let monsters get to the Heart of Castle and kill it...
Apart from shop&mine, I guess everything else is easily recreated using DRL engine :). Only additional AI scheme for hunting non-PC target would be required...
Unsure is it worth doing, and whether it'd play good in roguelike :). Just some random flash of idea ;).

Don't worry, you know as much as the others ^_^ (well maybe except Aerton and Igor Savin :-P)Hey, when you call me that way, I get an instant flash reminding me of One Amazing Girl, who calls me Igor Vasilljevic, and who I call
Julia Sergeevna ;)). And she's only one year older than I am...

What IS genrogue? It is "The GenRogue" we are talking about :).
I'll give you summed up bean knowledge of it:
"Developed by Kornel Kisielewicz since a long time ago, this game has seen a lot of rewrites in different platforms, languages and technologies. Currently it is rumoured to be developed in FreePascal.
By many considered a brilliant example of roguelike vapourware. This opinion is quite understandable due to the extreme reported feature bloat: GenRogue promises random plots and world generation, random cities and random conversations among many other features. Rumour also spreads that the game will feature 3D graphics, but it is yet (as everything) unconfirmed. It's true status is unknown to all but the developer.
A legend in the world of roguelikes -- all heard when using a stethoscophe on its wall was: "Kheesh... well, let it stay as it is -- it is mysterious enough now :-D""

I had to remove them when I changed my input system. Maybe they'll find their way back to the source tough.*Cries pathetically*

Requests For Features / Proposed Feature - Close Combat Weapon Slot

I agree, in the original doom, you could even chainsaw coacodemons to prevent them from attacking 100% then they would die in about 3-4 seconds. It was much more powerful.Mmmm, maybe stun chainsawed monsters for a while? (maybe some types would be immune to it).

This forum needs more off topic, so here it comes! That's the spirit ;).
Wel, I'm going to it as soon as I get to Moscow (that'll be November 7th), maybe as self-present for my 18th birthday, which will be November 18th ;)). There are very mixed review of the movie all around, but generally - plot is all changed, so be prepared; it's not Doom, it's just Doom-inspired stuff. But as such, it's said to be one hell of an action, and there's some 1st person view, just like in a game in there ;))).
Download, download it, you'll be the first one of our bunch to take a taste :). Consider it being a scout - but no spoilers ;).

Doomer's life is too short to be worthy for saving. My sentence was more related to Berserk rather than DoomRL ;))). I agree that savegames aren't needed in DRL.
