i got an idea for an multiplayer system in DoomRL
whats needed: An Standalone Program (server) wich allows to connect 4 Players!
An Serverloader/Connector wich finds Servers what are connected in a Masterserver or LAN
What must be Re/written: An Client Code to connect to the Standalone server (like Ip-adress: ... and Password: ... , etc.)
Maybe some Hotseat mode for offline Multiplayer
and just for fun: Deathmatch , ctf for the Hotseat ^^
i hope that was an great idea^^

As far as I am concerned, he was suggesting you to shoot yourself.
Your idea was posted on this forum around thirty times, and this is thirty-first. Just don't like the number.

First of all - http://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php?topic=449 - it's quite a common request.
Secondly - if you want a 2D turn-based strategy game with no graphics - chess is the thing for you. There's just no point in either putting real-time into DOOM:RL or making a multiplayer mode, where you would be able to move a single tile every 5-10 seconds.
Ask yourself this - WHAT would be fun in a multiplayer mode ? It's a roguelike, FFS. They aren't meant to be played together. It's a single-player experience at it's best. You want some MP - go play UT3 or something... Or a board game IRL, where you can have fun with friends while waiting for your turn.
Note that I'm *not* opposing change in general. I just think that there is a REASON for creating this without multiplayer. Imagine Max Payne with a multiplayer mode.
1* It's not possible
2* If it is possible, it's boring and pointless
The focus on singleplayer or multiplayer is something that you have to decide on very early on in the development. If you want both, it probably will be a multiplayer game with an optional campaign mode (vide UT). To balance out both SP and MP AND make the game fun... you have to be God or Blizzard ;).

There's no need for that.

No exactly... As I was trying to point out - he suggested "an multiplayer mode". Something we have not seen before ;P.
