Hey guys, don't you think that this trait is too ammo hungry to be sufficient without nanomachic chainfire weapon? I've just had UV run and I was completely wrecked because of lack of ammo (I collected whatever I could, only 2 med packs in backpack).

I would really want this feature, esp for Archangel of travel. It is just very bothersome to drop sth, pick up ammo, reload, drop ammo, pick up sth. I think I'd also use this not only in angles of travel, but in most of runs, as when I cleared the level I usually restock, and instead reload & pickup I could just reload with ammo on the ground.

Simple, makes things easier and doesn't affect the game too much. If you in some point doubt that it would affect the balance and you want to nerf it, make the reloading time longer (like takes 2x reloading time or 5x on AoT).

In my opinion it should be natural in doomrl that when you reload, firstly you check ammo on the ground, than ammo box and lastly backpack. Prioritising floor ammo at reloading would solve the problem but would make unable to change it reload time, so in the latter case it could be other combination like ctrl + R.

Of course this change shouldn't affect Shottyman trait. It would seem stupid to jump around and collect ammo shooting :D

So, whatddayathink?

Game asked to pass it, so I do it. Also I find that this version is a bit buggy my characters die as game crashes and makes no save. :( Lost 3 great runs because of this. It tends to freeze X-es as well.

Discussion / Dodgemaster - who does it work on? Short topic.

Hey, I'd like to magnify dodgemaster trait in this theard.

As of my experience I think that some monsters just ignore this trait, and I'd like to get a confirmation/negation here.

What I noticed:
Except obvious ones as Revenant, Arch Vile and Sergeants
I think that Mancubis ignores this trait and just shoots his 3 missiles which have normal chance to hit you.
I think that chainfiring guys like former commando/Archatron also ignore this trait (or just first bullet is dodged for sure) as I am always damaged nevertheless.

So on who does it actually work? I think that those are: Barons, Hell knights, Cybie, Mastermind (I am not sure about shotgun-like attack), Former humen, Cacos, Imps, Shamblers, JC, Lava elemental? Most of them are bosses.

Discussion / Breaking killing spree & UAC medals limits

I think that stepping on damaging fluid shouldn't end your killing spree as it currently does. I base that on the fact that losing health from any actives/being boosted doesn't count as well, and sometimes you are forced to step on fluid to go on, and even though you did perfectly with enemies, you won't get a spree and UAC star :(
Makes sense?

About current medals UAC I find their limits too low, as I happen to have gold/silver in almost all runs (except AoB and AoPc ofc). What do you think?

Discussion / Practical use of skulls/Arena Master staff

Hey folks, I am quite intermediate in this game, but I have always wondered what are the best (here I mean, your, veterans' experience) uses of the entitled stuff.

I find myself very rarely use Arena Master staff, as  turn on running and gtfo from swarming place is usually better than weaken everyone (as it doesn't kill even formers afaik).

Also I actually don't use skulls in other situations than limbo/mortuary.

To be honest I'd like to ask for your knowledge/opinion in the matter of Shockwave pack as well, as usually I end up not using it too. So? :)

Would it make a big difference in difficulty curve to add there as a reward combat pistol instead of that pesky assault shotgun? I don't think so. But it would make a great surpirse/motivation to go in there and tackle the challenge it is on AoMr.

My first successful marksman run. I find it on UV the easiest actually :D This run is very XP dependant.

I always considered marksman as a hardest of the easy-"hard" challenges and Sharpshooter as not so awesome (as you can't use double guns). Yet it appeared to be totally awesome, as since you have Sharpshoot and mod your pistol with one power mod, you gain knockback! Suddenly all battles are so much easier, especially with INT 2. I tried this 3 times, 3rd was a success, all other died around Deimos Lab.

I was counting on Sniper/Firestorm mod pack from Deimos (to ease scan shooting/make my way into the wall and gib corpses), but I've got the other ones: nano and onyx... heh. I didn't waste them though.

I think I wouldn't enter Skull City without assembling antigrav boots. It wasn't so harsh as I thought it to be.

Speed demon. At the last levels I had max speed of shooting (0.1), making everyone of regular enemies die in 0.5 sec at most, and with gravity boots + hellrunner 0.2 for walking, so no enemy was a problem.

I didn't finish cerb. boots, and upgraded armor and thus Lava pits appeared to be challenging. I wasn't certain if powerups like enviro suit are based on turns of player or turns of game/time, and I ended up in the middle of the lava before first floor island... I had to get a lucky phase shift to get me closer to the suits and I got kinda in the middle of map, on island with 4 pain elementals, souls and 2 revenants. It costed me 5 large meds to get to the enviro suits.

I didn't complete UC, as I didn't get to have invul globe. Again, oh irony, I got 2 invul globes next level :( I wanted explorer badge, but Platinum Marksman was more appealing. Good game.

Btw, I didn't have Spider level, what is it paired with? Halls of carnage?
Couldn't Limbo/Mortuary have combat pistol instead of assault shotgun for AoMr? :)
What else is based on player turns except powerups like zerk/invu/enviro?

I find strongman more difficult than Aob (not suitable rewards on special levels, weapons limitation). Even though I was technician, I decided to go for Berserker than Malicious blades (it does not give resistance to all, unlike berserker + berserker gives a lot of speed and damage [which is better than 2x knives]). Shame, that Longinus spear isn't a knife :P I was nicely surprised by the new new chain sword, after upgrading it was like shotgun, 8d3. In Mourtary I discovered usability of (always underestimated by me) grappling boots. I feel that this game spams with technician mod (found like 14 during all the run, which was pretty MUCH comparing to the other mods).
I was also surprised by early revenants and much lower lvl than usually (maybe that's caused by not visiting all specials, but I did visit quite a lot, and there's difference between 10 and 13)
There was strange game behaviour at the beggining (like 10 levels), sometimes when I was trying to pick something, a strange text appeared on the map covering stuff.

Discussion / [0.9.9.6] Can't start graphical doomrl * linux

    I'm working with laptop, using OS ubuntu 10 with gnome.

    Log file seems fine:

But I get nothing but black screen, where mouse is not visible, I have no console output. I'm quite certain I do have sdl. Error log is empty. Where's the problem? (btw I thought that low quality version is console one, but I was disappointed and I have no working 0.9.9.6 now :< )

Modding / Uniques/exotics/assemblies/artifacts test

I'd very like to see somebody (or myself) to create a mod which adds at the beggning of the game a room filled with all those crazy and reasonable uniques/exotics/assemblies/artifacts you all (and me) suggest in ideas section (for testing matters).

I could try to handle it, but I don't have any experience with mod api. I could try to fiddle with code, but not sure if it will be availble for me.
Also modding api could be not enough, for some new effects like reflecting bullets.

For me, who seen all of the uniques and exotics in game, also built almost all assemblies (I think I didn't make cerberus armor anytime) and obtained all artifacts, current uniques are quite boring, you know...

Would you also like to see something like this? Share your opinion. I'm looking forward to possitive response ;P

Not sure if that's bug, but now nuking cyber demon is not a win. Or description should be changed - nuke spider mastermind, but I have no idea how to pass cyber demon without homing phase. Can he destroy wall and show stair case?

About pacifism, I am certain that scout not seeing stairs is on the purpose, right?
