Title: Beta Testers forum open
Post by: Kornel Kisielewicz on September 04, 2006, 16:05
There's a new forum for Beta Testers, and already there's a Beta Test version ready. Please log in and check if you're a Beta Tester. If you're not, and you would want to be one, tell me :).

I like to see too.

Also, I ran into a spiffy doodad for search for a program that records text on screen and place it in .exe (vs. file size of avi records).  Not only it's good for showing off your run through hell (which was the plan =b), but also useful for seeing when and what actions was taken when the game crashs.
I found it here, http://www.hp200lx.net/super2.html . It's called demo workshop (scroll down to find it).  You might or might not seen it before, but it's cool to use and check out.  It runs in dos, so if you have the dos version, in the .bat file at the top type "sr" for "screen recorder".  then you can cut on record and off anytime during play with alt-r.  You can also use a scene break using alt-s to mark important events.

The is also DOS Recorder (http://dosrecorder.sourceforge.net/) you must support it because it was made with roguelikes on mind ! (ok may be not, but the author supports roguelikes) It is very featureful

Yeah, it would save some time if Kornel just posted the file here for the public.

Thomas, I'm glad to see you :D. Added you to the Beta Tester list.

No, I don't want it to go public until I know it's relatively stable. That's the whole point of closed betas isn't it?

Define "closed". From where I stand, it looks like it's open to everyone. :)

I think I'm the only one who does not request access to the beta. Actually,  I'd like to but, I don't really have time for that.

As an idea, maybe you can follow many other software products, and have beta available to everyone, and with large font you can say, it's unstable (if it really is).

Thomas, I'm glad to see you :D.

Well, with the lack of major updates I've gone to a life of lurking.

There's a big hint in that that you may have missed, although I'll leave you to figure it out.

Do you need any more beta testers?  I'd regret it for the rest of my days if I didn't offer!

I'd be worried if he was stalking Kornel, AFAIK they are pretty far apart geographically wise.

Honestly I can't believe I missed that. I was always around, constantly, but the activity in the forum was... 1-2 posts a week... and Its been a long time I didn't come here.

To come back and see that I missed all that! I would like to be a beta testers but not only my time is quite limited, but I guess its too late.

Anyway, I'm glad DoomRL is still alive! Can't wait to new stuff!

If things are always like that, you would be better making the Beta public :P

Nope - I don't want a halfproduct to visit the "shelves". Also it gives the beta testers a greater incentive to actually beta test :>
