I've been playing ITYTD games lately to get my Cyberdemon kill count up, and just to make it more challenging, I decided to try for the Untouchable Cross medal.  I got Int 2 and Cateye at the start so I could kill enemies before they see me.  It made the whole game pretty slow and painstaking, and taking less than 50 damage in one game was still surprisingly difficult and took several tries, but I finally did it, and got Conqueror badge and a full win to boot!  :)

I kept track of how much damage I took, so I would know if/when I failed at my goal.  I took 38 damage total.

4 from an imp who got propelled into my field of view by an exploding barrel.

10 from a Former Commando because there was an open doorway where I expected there to be a wall and I stepped into its field of view.

2 from a Former Captain who somehow survived a shotgun blast at close range.  (Probably wearing armour)

22 from an Arch-Vile on level 24 because I just got careless toward the end.  (Oops!)

I was worried that the Lava Elemental would give me trouble, but he started in my field of view and I was able to mow him down with my plasma rifle before he got off a single shot.

There was an Invulnerability on level 24, so I was able to use the Lava Element while fighting JC.  I closed to point-blank range and chainsawed him.  The Lava Element wore off when he was severely wounded, so I switched to my BFG and finished him off with that.  :)

Well, the fact that I did choose Shottyman (man, I was still a whole level-up away from Shottyhead?)

Oh, right, it was Shottyman, not Shottyhead.  I misread it.  :)

Well, I had decent attack speed and good movement speed, and I really like killing things.  I had the possibility of taking him on in mind when I made the piercing chainsaw.  But I never got a good chance to take Brute for any level-ups, so I wouldn't have actually entered the Unholy Cathedral for that purpose.  I just found myself escaping through the Unholy Cathedral stairs, and convinced myself that it was possible.  If only I had a combat knife...

You were definitely fast enough to do it, but no med-packs means no margin for error.  (And with no Ironman or TaN, you can only afford to screw up once or twice)  When I outspeeded the AoD in my run, as careful as I tried to be, I still screwed up enough to need a couple of large med-packs.  Not that I blame you; I know how tempting it is to try for YAAM even if it's risky.  :)

that's strange, your final trait isn't there either.  Bug report?

It's there.  He's level 8 and I count 8 traits listed.  It looks like he got Shottyhead instead of Hellrunner, after all.

(I don't know why my message log looks weird; it doesn't report any of my hits but the last one, or the first time the Angel hits me)

I've been meaning to report that.  Whenever you use the "look" command, it overwrites the last message in the message log.  It usually isn't a big deal, but it can be a bit of a nuisance if you do it at the start of a level and miss important information in the "level feeling" message.

...Maybe if I'd played a Marine and took vampire as early as possible, it'd be useful to take on the city; skulls for health, and there's so damn many that you could build up enough Berserkerness to last through the end of the game.

I thought of that too.  :)  Sadly, berserk duration from Berserker trait is capped for exactly that reason, but yes, pain elementals are an excellent source of health/berserk power for a Vampyre.  :)

I've been doing HNTR runs as Scavenger lately to collect schematics and Nano mods so I can get Technician Diamond.  Nothing spectacular about this run except that I finally got the last assemby, Nano Shrapnel.  (Which is a pretty devastating weapon, incidentally)  I was thinking of getting YAAM conqueror as well by out-speeding the AoD, like I did in my other run, but I didn't get Fin 2 in time, so after that, nothing else seemed to matter except going to kill Cybie.  (And JC too, just because)  :)

EDIT:  And yes, I nuked Hellgate.  :)  I've never done that before; it was quite amusing when I strolled through the empty level to the exit and got messages like "The walls disappear" and I asked, "What walls?"  :P

I hope to get an HMP win some day... but that is hard considering how often I get to play these days (not very often).

But on the bright side, that's probably just a sign that you're doing important things with your life when you're not playing the game!  :)

EDIT: Now I lack only Azrael's Scythe to get Armorer Diamond...

That's a tough one to get, but at least it's in a predictable location.  The one artifact that I'm missing is the Dragonslayer.  I have yet to play a game in which it's generated.  :|

Ack!  All these people are beating me to 26 bronzes!  :o  I have to get better so I can keep up!  :P  Seriously, though, congrats!  :)

At 22 minutes, it should be easy enough to get Speedrunner Silver after this.  You might want to try getting used to playing as a Scout; the ability to detect stairs really helps speedruns.

GH: Fixed mortem tag.

After all the Nightmare games I've been playing, Ultraviolence is surprisingly relaxing, not having to worry about monsters getting back up again.  Also, being able to save the game is quite refreshing, so I took full advantage of it.  :)

My goals were to get YAAM and to maybe get the last two assemblies left that I need to get Technician Diamond.  Both of them require Nano mods of course, so I was disappointed that I never encountered any Nano mods or anything that disassembled into Nano mods.  :(  I did get an Onyx mod at one point, which is normally really valuable, but I decided I liked my Malek's armor so much that I ended up throwing it away.

There were a few occasions where I needed power or bulk mods, but had an abundance of agility or technical mods, so I assembled Speedloader Pistols and disassembled them to get the mods that I wanted.  Scavenger trait is really handy sometimes.  :)

I was disappointed to find that Firestorm mods are pretty finicky about what they'll attach themselves to.  I couldn't Firestorm my Assault Rifle or Tactical Rocket Launcher.  :(  My Firestorm-modded Hyperblaster was pretty kick-ass, though,  :)  second only to my Firestorm-modded Nanomachic Plasma Rifle that I had in a previous game.  :)

The only time my run was seriously threatened was the Lava Elemental cave on level 96.  I was determined to get YAAM, though, so I found an alcove where they could only approach me one at a time and took them out one by one.  It used up all my energy cells, almost all my bullets, and all but two of my med-packs, and I had to resort to chainsawing a few of them, but I finally did it.

What the thread title says.  I had Whizkid level 2 before assembling a Tactical Rocket Launcher and then tried to put Firestorm on it to give it a bigger bang and I got the generic "This mod can only be used on a rapid-fire or explosive weapon" message.  I'm pretty sure a rocket launcher is supposed to count as an explosive weapon.

Then again, knowing this, it could have its uses...  like if you have less than 10 seconds of invulnerability left, step into the nearest lava or acid pool and insta-use the nuke there!

I had this happen to me too.  I nuked the level while standing on the stairs to the Mortuary and then the Mortuary stairs were gone.  Since it was an "optional" level, I wasn't sure if it was a bug.  I guess this proves that it is.

A firestorm modded assault rifle would have been great, though...

My thoughts exactly!  :)  I wish I'd discovered this thread sooner, because I just tried and failed to create a Firestorm-modded Assault Rifle today.  :(

In the eyes of the Firestorm a rapid weapon is one which fires at least 3 shots per turn.

So, if I get Triggerhappy, the Firestorm will work?  (I know TH works on the Assault Rifle because I used it in a previous game)

Bug Reports / [0.9.9.4] 2 nuke Fallout Gold cross

I was playing this game the other day and was awarded a Fallout Gold Cross even though I only nuked 2 levels.  It's done this before; I think it has something to do with the fact that I nuked a generated level instead of a regular level.  (In this caes, the Lava Pits)

I'm not sure what would be harder, Hell's Arena, or killing the Arena Master in the Chained Court!  :o  After that, you just have to hope you find a Trigun and have invulnerabilities for each of the generated levels.  I think nuking the Armory would take the Shambler with it, but you would definitely have to nuke the Lava Pits twice, since the Lava Elemental doesn't appear until everything else is dead.

Explorer on AoPc N!.  Sounds like a nice challenge for Tormuse and all the other Diamond Hunters who can't find enough challenges.  =P

Wow!  AoPc is so much easier when you can get Hellrunner!  :P  And yes, HoC did pose a problem.  I got cornered by Cacodemons while trying to get to the exit and had to phase away from them.  Ultimately, I ended up waiting until the lava caught up with me and broke the walls down.  My boots got destroyed and I lost all my med-packs, but I made it, and I even picked up the BFG before exiting!  :)
