This would require re-assigning all monster letters (to use each letter only once) in order to make the color=health visualization. Most of us play this game for longer periods than 1 month ;) so it would also require us to change our habits...

e.g.: B = Baron of Hell, K = Hell knight, C = cacodemon, P = Pain Elemental, Y = Cyberdemon etc.

I'm against it.

Can't you simply use "look" command? It doesn't take a turn.

OK, something really strange happened to me today. I was playing AoB challenge (in both cases), when somebody rang at the door. When I got back the game was gone. There were no power interruptions I know of (besides, I switched off "going back after power interrupt" feature, at least I know why the machine was reset).

Later on, after I cleared the level I was looking in my inventory, wondering if I should dump destroyed armor and suddenly... the program closes. I don't recall pressing any key (I was still thinking), I have no cat which could jump on keyboard either.

Both things happened on the Chained Court, with a chainsaw in hand, while or after berserking, AoB challenge. The program window closed, so no messages, no savedumps. The lines of code that blinked are probably the command prompt lines from doomrl.bat

Or am I just going crazy?

It teleports you to stairs leading to next level. Oh, and on lv25 it only teleports you to the center of the arena ;)

But as I understand Rev's rocket doesn't have to be the rocket we know already? Why not making it a lot weaker (with minimal splash) but giving very high accuracy.

Oh, and I'm against Doom3 monsters. Add them if you wish yourself - when the modding option becomes available.

Aww... I was hoping to nail Cybie second time today - as Angel of Impatience, but I was asking for too much luck. I've found Baron's Armor and some Trigun thingie, went supercharged into lv25, able to spit 10 rounds of plasma from the rifle, but my lucky stroke ended here. Cybie was too close when I entered, so even though I dodged his rocket it exploded on the outer wall, damaging me and knocking back. It happened more than once, I couldn't separate from him, even homing phase device didn't save me (hey, I was wondering if it will send me... you know... to THE stairs ;) The wounded Cyberdemon won the duel :(

Honestly, I find DoomRL complete as it is, and I have little need for more features (only bugfixes), but if I were to choose one last thing, the Spider-Mommy gets my vote.

Spider Mastermind: Always generated in the end of Spider's Lair. Has Jackhammer (and uses it), two levels in SoaB, two in Triggerhappy, three in Hellrunner, and two in Ironman.
I think it should use some beefed-up version of a chaingun, as in the original Doom. This is surely a must-have boss, I miss him greatly in DoomRL. Maybe we could also put him on lv15, for example. Seriously, one of the features I really look forward in the new version, more than another challenge mode or whatever else.

Maybe I would be wiser if there were no barrels generated outside the "buildings"? I like the idea, reminds me of a certail level in Doom2.

I doubt Kornel will be against hijacking a single thread on his forum.

And mods could separate our pirate-related ideas from Karry's project, please (make a separate thread for him).

Trying out DoomRL is a must, especially if you like AliensRL. Despite being made by the same man, the gameplay is really different - in each game you must think according to its rules. For example in Doom you won't be able to backtrack, but you'll find superior weapons etc.

And, after all, these games are free, take up only few MB altogether, need no install nor supah-hifi-hardware - you can check them all in one evening!
