Been away from this for a while, but the Jupiter Hell kickstarter made me pick it up again.
As you can see, I actually could've skipped the last two floors, but the murdertrain cannot leave its rails.
Level 50 saw me making an Assault Plasma Rifle. It proved... disappointing, compared to the Hyperblaster. A 2.5sec reload isn't a problem when you only reload after 40 bursts.
67, Cybernano Red. Wasn't expecting that. Was going to just be content with my Onyx Red. Then I found the Nano Pack.
I still don't know how to use the damn Berserker Armor or Dragonslayer. Oh well.
97, High Power Nuclear Plasma Rifle. Theoretically, a nice backup. In practice, by then I'd actually managed to find a good stockpile of cells, and the accuracy and fire speed of the Hyperblaster was preferred.

Requests For Features / New special level idea - Profane Sanctum (with The Unmaker)

This idea came of several things:
1. I want a Doom 64 tribute in DoomRL.
2. I want the Unmaker, dammit! Maybe this should be point 1.
3. I want a ranged equivalent of the Unholy Cathedral. Well, it's rapid-fire specific, but whatever. I like the idea of a level dedicated to challenging a specific kind of build.
So, the special levels.
Profane Sanctum:
Level Feeling: This looks like a shrine of some sort...
Effect: You can only use rapid-fire weapons.
Upon using the wrong weapon: The hell with respect, you need a better gun!
Enemies consist primarily of Arachnotrons and Nightmare Imps, possibly with scattered Hell Knights and Barons of Hell for flavor. Ideally we would avoid Arch-Viles, Former Captains, and Revenants, because they (chaingunners in the Captain's case) weren't in Doom 64. When the first batch of enemies falls, the lever in the middle of the level becomes functional. Pulling it will summon the Mother Demon, and phase two of the level begins. In addition to the Mother Demon, new enemies will spawn in the level periodically, whose spawn points can be locked down with levers toward the corner of the level.
Rough level design concept:
The *s denote where enemies will spawn in while the Mother Demon is alive. Each lever-in-a-box will close the closest spawn point. Newly-spawned enemies give no XP, and are still alive when the Mother Demon falls. The two closest walls to the middle blocking the levers (for example, for the southwest lever, it's the north and east wall) are destroyed when the Mother Demon spawns. Other than the walls by the corner levers, and maybe the four pillars near the middle lever, all walls are destructible and have lower health than normal. No enemies (other than the Mother Demon's spawn) listed, will let other people figure that out. The Unmaker spawns on the Mother Demon's corpse here (but if she's added to Ao100, not there obviously)

Melee: 5d2, 5 panel knockback - this is in case you can't block melee from functioning. I'd rather make her just hop away, but I'm not sure that would work well. Then again, not sure you can make an attack do guaranteed knockback unrelated to damage. *shrug* The intent is to make her bad at melee, but good at avoiding it.
Description: "Damn it, she's back again? Better make sure you finish her for good this time."

Requests For Features / Minor Mortem Rearrangement Suggestion

The first line, with your name, level, kill rank, medal rank, and class looks... awkward as it is now. Taken from Kazinsal's mortem...
Everything just got gradually tacked on the end and it looks weird to me. I suggest rearranging it to [Medal rank] [Name], Level # [Kill Rank] [Class]. So, the above would become...
It's a really, really minor thing, but I think it'd look better and I hope it's easy to do (should just be switching a couple variables around, I would guess...)

Agent Victor Delacroix, CIA. "Escher", they call me. How'd I get assigned to the ass end of the Earth sphere? Might have somethin' to do with me sleeping with the boss's wife. And his sister. Not at once, mind you. If I did that they'd have sent me to Jersey instead.
Even I've got my limits.
Now, I'm no soldier, but when I heard the base was under attack, I figured I'd see what I could do to help. Worst case, I survive and I'm stuck on this godforsaken rock for a few more years. For some reason, some guy was calling for Jake, figured that scrawny shit from the Bureau would be able to help. Trouble is, he'd already taken the last shuttle home to "file a report". Yeah, I call BS.
Whatever. So there I go, marching right into the base, and there's Barry right inside the front door. Now, Barry was never the sharpest tool in the shed, but he looked even dumber than normal. Then he sees me, and what's he do? The prick shoots at me - badly, of course, he never was much of a marksman. I return the favor, but I do it right. Going through the base, it's more of the same. Guys I recognize (and quite a few I don't) trying to kill me, with these pointy brown bastards lobbing fire at me for support. It's the same thing, over and over, only the brown bastards got bigger later. Things were looking up at the Class M restricted area, found one of those prototype plasma pistols the army's been working on. Can't believe they got the thing working. Found some upgrades at this... factory, different from the rest of the base though. Found another "blaster" there, not that I needed a second.
Now, that makes it a lot easier. They start dropping faster, and I start learning how they move, how they fight. So they switch it up on me. Found some stairs at what I thought was the end of the base. Figured I'd take a look, and what do I see? The gates of Hell. Yeah, I know, you've heard it before - records of people at Normandy, several thousand housefires, and so on. No, I mean the literal gates of Hell. And two of the toughest bastards I've ever seen guarding them.
So I killed them and went through the gate. See if Hell's any worse than what I've already gone through. Turns out, not so much... until it hit me that the factory earlier? It was a demon base.
So, with that in mind, decided to make damn sure I cleaned the place out.
Sometimes, I wake up and I hear them laughing. Just my imagination, I'm sure...
I had the supplies. I should've searched for the red pillar, set up the nuke, Lava'd just before it went off, then overcharged the nuclear plasma rifle to kill JC at the last second of invulnerability. It gives three seconds, I might have been able to pull it off... not certain though.
Found two blasters, and two assault shotguns. Strange.

I had the supplies. I should've searched for the red pillar, set up the nuke, Lava'd just before it went off, then overcharged the nuclear plasma rifle to kill JC at the last second of invulnerability. It gives three seconds, I might have been able to pull it off... not certain though.
Found two blasters, and two assault shotguns. Strange.
MSs and a high power blaster is retardedly strong. Seriously. Viles down in five hits, Revs in two.

Honestly, I think my speedrun gave me more useful information than my last melee non-AoB game did. Namely, that the Lava Pits are a convenient shortcut if you have to get away from a Mancubus and two Arachnotrons.
Arachnotrons were really the only threat at the end. I was even running up to Viles and stabbing them in the face.
My Nanofiber Duelist Armor proved exceptionally useful, even though I couldn't make it until after the Cathedral. Turns out that with that, O may as well be +
First AoB win, hell yes. Finally making some progress.

Just barely made Speedrunner Silver, and as the title says, it's the first time ever for me. I reasoned (rightly so, it turns out) that a melee build would work best since I could just chainzerk through fights rather than having to exchange bullets or waste time cornershooting.
The Lava Pits and Vaults were a tactical decision to save time, and they may well have saved my run. First stairs I found on their respective levels, and I knew the exit was right at spawn there. The Armory, however, was just for my second Agility mod for the boots.
As for Cyberdemon's Head? I was still riding on an Invincibility globe from two or three floors ago. It helped that I was consistently close to the stairs for the last few levels.
Damn near died because of a Vile, but unfortunately for him, it was a Maze of Rooms. Last turn of his life, I used a medpack, he lit me on fire, and in the process self-immolated.

Recent melee game (my first speedrunner badges, yaaaay!), I went for Vampire. Got Juggler shortly afterward, forgot I was close to the Cathedral. With a Chainsaw prepared, modded Combat SHotgun selected, relying on the Juggler auto-melee effect, Vampire did not boost health.
As I recall, Berserker functioned properly, however.

Great early game despite missing the Arena. Managed a kill-based levelup thanks to a lever on level 1 and crossfire on level 2. Was doing alright on health and items, had a Homing Phase...

I and a friend of mine run another SMF forum for our Minecraft server, and we've been making use of Stop Forum Spam's SMF plugin for quite a while now.
We haven't had any spammers get through our registration since we started that, and as far as I'm aware it's only blocked one legitimate registration (which was easy enough to let through manually.)
I know there's more issues with that on the wiki, but they have been getting to the forum lately too. And really, anything to hinder them is good, right?

Just something I wanted to try, a run with standard, unmodded pistols and armor, no exotics or uniques.
It went well, as you can see. I didn't even find any uniques, but I did find several exotics - Shockwave Pack, Phaseshift Boots, and Blood Skull. I only picked them up long enough to record them in my player file, though.
I botched my Cyberdemon's Head attempt by accidentally dualreloading instead of single reloading between his shots. While he was at Almost Dead.

Best I've ever done in HMP. That's rather sad given that I've been playing this since 0.9.8.10.
If I'd went for the room behind the mancubus instead of bolting southeast, I'd have been able to win. Probably.
Combat shotguns were annoyingly sparse; I found three or four double shotguns before my first combat. Then about five floors later I found the Assault Shotgun. FFFFF-
Red armors were also alarmingly rare. My first was at the Hellgate, and I only found one other. On the other hand, Malek's regen may have saved my ass at one point.
