Title: AoI Cyberdemon
Post by: rchandra on December 27, 2012, 02:36
Does anybody have advice for dealing with the Cyberdemon after Deimos on AoI?  I got what felt like a strong character to that point on HMP with probably 120 HP (iro x3, BA), dodged a lot of rockets and returned fire with missile launcher, but I'd still take a lot of hits.  I really hope dodgemaster/fireangel isn't necessary, as shottyman + survivalist has seemed like a good path otherwise.  I don't remember how I dealt with him in pre-episode versions, probably with BFGs or a nuke since he was at the end and BFGs used to be more common.

Yes, you can always kill him with BFG blast while standing on the other side of pillar. Simple cornershooting isn't work, he will still hit you.

Well, if you don't like Dodgemaster, there's always Berserker.  :)  The Chainsaw makes short work of him.

ah, well perhaps this will work better if/when a bfg is restored to one of the special levels - in the current beta, there is none other than mortuary's nuclear BFG.

with berserker I have the same problem as dodgemaster - won't be able to get Survivalist.  So until then I need a different build, perhaps MAD + berserker, or vampyre + shottyman.

You can always make fireproof armour and tank him with a chainfiring weapon. It can hurt quite a bit though.

Thanks folks.  I used the following trait path: Rel->Rel->Bad->Bru->SM->MAD->Bru->Ber->TaN->TaN->Bad->TaN->Iro->

This enabled me to clear all special levels except Vaults (centre) and Lava Pits.

I danced with Cyberdemon, exchanging rockets again until he hit me and triggered berserker, then he met the piercing chainsaw.

Often Viles and friends would trigger berserker, then they could enjoy Azrael's scythe.  Otherwise I usually used the elephant gun.
Hell 7 was just painful, with so many archviles and Barons/Mancubi in a maze layout, by the time I found the stairs I was at 7% health - so I just accepted the partial win to claim Eagerness Silver/Gold.
