The only way I could see a Sokoban element working even in a hidden level would be to have the items that need to be moved around as enemies which you knock back with your melee attacks - hence UC would be perfect for it.

What I mean is: You cannot damage the enemy with your attacks, but you can be damaged (a small amount) by a melee attack from it. The creatures have a very slow move speed, and a somewhat higher attack speed (they will nearly always get a swing at you, but won't run after you too quickly). Imagine a maze style complex where you need to knock these creatures back into, well, let's use teleporters since they're already in there. Each teleporter disappears once used by the creature and has a static output...if you're that creature.

I enjoyed watching the movie, but left the theatre feeling dissatisfied. Obviously the movie was long. Fair enough. But the last twenty to forty minutes did not hold my interest in the way the first two hours+ did.

I voted for HMP, as that's what I would usually test (read: IDDQD) on. I win fairly consistently on HNTR, but don't have the mad skills for UV or N! by a long shot.

I use HydraIRC as well, and can have issues connecting. Try several different mirrors until you find one that works for you.

MaiZure is quite correct that it's open source. There is also work taking place on it. I believe that a good portion of the code has now been converted to lua to allow for more/better control...that being said, if you want to see what's going on with it and/or help out, feel free to jump on #chaosforge on irc.quakenet.org and have a chat.

EDIT: original post implied the entire code was being converted to lua, which can't and shouldn't happen. o.O

There is a very specific reason that the DS isn't shown as being found, which I don't think you want spoiled for you.

As to the Apostle, he's pretty easy to get to if you can get all the right things in the right places. Killing him, though...

Man, can I just say that you'll love the next release (and maybe you might want to get your hands on the beta when it's being tested) if you like this sort of stuff. The challenge modes are getting...some more options thrown in.

I like the idea of the tactician challenge. The irony is that you'll need to take more real life time to figure out what's the fastest item in your inventory so that you can be the fastest you can be in game.

Tool Assisted Speedrun.  It means using external tools to help achieve move-perfect precision necessary for the ultimate speedrun.

From my understanding, one could conceivably build a bot from the code that is currently allowed in the keybindings.lua file. If you take a look at the use large medkit and use small medkit commands, they are more than just a basic command - and if someone was willing to learn the syntax and wanted to program the perfect player AI, they could speedrun on crack.

Well, unless AliensRL development had been hidden from the beta testers, there were no distinctive changes for ...7 months. And the last alpha version is unplayable, so releasing it would be a bad move now. It needs the work to be done.

Do you lurk on the Chaosforge IRC channel? You can see code commits happen there if you hang around, so you can see the work that happens.

For reference, the most recent SVN revision of AliensRL happened on the 18th of June, just a couple weeks ago.

Yeah, incest is pretty hard on families. And it's best not to start a life together based on that sort of thing, in my opinion. Killing browncoatsrandom rebels and red suits is just showing how much you love this person: you're willing to sacrifice your friends lives to be with them.
