Requests For Features / Just another items from original DooM

Maybe add some more items from original DooM?

1)Megasphere - sets your health to 200%, and if you don't have AA, then removes your armor with red armor 100%. If you have AA, then it repairs it fully. Less chance of appearance than supercharge have.

2)Invisibility globe - you must be in radius of ((LoS of monster) / 2) to be noticed by this monster, and your chance to dodge increases to some value (dodgeChance * 1.5, for example).

3)Night vision goggles - increases your LoS * 1.5.

This items could make game a little bit easier on Nightmare!(tm))) and on lower difficulties to people, who just getting started with this game.

I want to post here my archievements in Nightmare! and i can say that even i'm confused and don't know, how to deal with this.
I think that the best chance to beat Nightmare! is to play it on AoH, because surviving 12 levels there is extremely hard, but surviving 24 levels there is (extremely hard) * 2. So i had thinking from this point.

(*)All my 10 levels i archieved on level 2(starting level in AoH) by killing one demon 317 times(**).
You can see him on the picture in the middle. All this weapons - are from 2 ressurecting former humans, and all this blood are from the demon.))
My first strategy was archieving as high level, as i can get by killing easy monsters, that are ressurecting. And i think that it is quite nice strategy, but it has opposite side - it is too long and boring to kill one demon and two former humans. What killed me? Bad luck. On level 4 i runt through stairs, that are just was next to me. But on level 6 i realized myself in a room, where after several turns all monsters from all over the map headed. So soon i found myself not alone in this room, but with company of 2 BoHs, 1 Pain Elemental and a lots of little creatures(demons, imps). 2 medikits haven't saved me.

Second strategy was just to run for luck. This tactic can be successfull, if you will be luck enough to find  RL, some large medikits(or just one thermie)) to fight Cybie, and you will survive 12 levels. I can be successfull, if on level 10 there won't be 3 AVs on every side(I haven't noticed, but imho they are ressurecting too. OMG!!).

So, post here any suggestions, how to make it. I know, that there are only few people on this forum, who can play Nightmare!, but just write your ideas and thoughts, and i will say, how possible are they.

Perks order:
Brute -> Hellrunner*2  -> Brute -> Berserk*3
Some tips: commandos are death here, so avoid them until you are Berserk. Berserk is the only one thing, on what you can depend with so low damage, so try to max it as soon as possible.Maybe here following order will be better :
Brute*2 -> Berserk*3 -> Brute -> Anything else
Get cheap exp on arachnotrons in their caves, usually there are at least one thing, that makes you Berserk. I used 2 medikits to kill Cyberdemon, and Berserk was triggered 7 times during final battle.

Bug Reports / Lots of Questions

I collected some bugs(or not) and want to post them in one topic
1)When you start AoH challenge, if there are any monsters near your start poin, they are not standing still as usually at the beginning of level. Once, as soon as i spawned, i realized myself standing in circle of 3 demons with only 35hp left.

2)It's not a bug(maybe), but question. Can anybody tell me, on what parameters is depending time of monsters ressurecting on Nightmare! difficulty? I saw moments, when you just kill imp, and instantly it ressurects. And i saw moments, when one killed monster remained dead forever. Maybe set time of ressurection static, as in original DooM?

3)This question is a mix from preceding. On Nightmare!, right after monster is ressurected, it sometimes are not reacting to everything(as in the beginning of level), and sometimes starts active.

Ultra Violence is a great difficulty level, i love it! But few things upset me a little. Really, level 3 awards you with 4-7 HKs, and on Arena you must kill 3 or 4 BoHs. But from level 12 to level 24 same only powerfull monsters spawns on every map. Their quantity isn't increasing at all(i haven't seen difference from amount and quality of monsters on level 13 to amount and quality of monsters on level 24). And one more: look at the arachnotron kill count. I faced 4 or 5 levels that contained only Arachnotrons. That's because it was always hard with ammo. I know that it's a random generator, and it is unlucky day for me, but it's boring to kill 7-12 arachnotrons on each level with chaingun firing from out of their sight.
And, again, great thanks to Intuition, it saved me, as usual!
Perk order: 2*Eagle Eye -> 3*Intuition -> SoaB -> Eagle Eye -> SoaB -> Iron Man*3 -> SoaB

And more, i have forgot: never, NEVER go to City of Skulls on UV! There i fired almost all my cells and very many rockets... to find out that i had destroyed my reward. There are so many Lost Souls and Pain Elementals, that BFG can't handle with them, they anyway reaching you. And then you don't think about reward, you just fire at every moving creature.

Requests For Features / Really crazy idea

I understand that this idea can be applied only in very far future(maybe version 2.4.65, or later)) , but how about convertor from ascii maps to original DooM ][ ][ maps? So if you extend quantity of DooMRL levels to 30 + 2 secret, they can be converted directly to new DooM original wad, and be used as new episode. As i know, level modding of DooM is not illegal.
And what about adding really secret level(s) on single map(on standart random level, or on special level)? They must be hidden (you'll need to create some rooms that are not easy to pass)

Levers must be pressed in the right order(if it is possible to programme on this step), otherwise some powerfull mosters summons, and floor floods with lava(maybe without lava will be better). There can be more levers to harder switch-picker work, and there must not be able to see with Intuition, what every lever are doing.
Or maybe place stairs to secret level on Hell Caves level somewhere deep in the rock, and the only way to make it to them is to find little passage in hard-reaching place. Of course no computer map must be spawned on this level.
There can be 2 or 3 secret levels every time you play(exact secret level is chosen randomly from some precreated maps).

Bug Reports / Easy kills [NOT A BUG]

I realized that when you die, if you hit space one time to see mortem, but then hit alt+f4(or any other way you'll close window of DooMRL), all kills will be added to your character statistics, but your death won't be count there(and in "score.dat" too). It's really cheater bug, because you can raise your statistics fast and without problems(just save-load on last levels of game and die every time you load).
And one more. In mortuary, when i picked up and AA and put it on, i remained white. As i remember from previous game, AA is yellow. I had at that time Tough As Nails*3 ; Ironman*3 ; Brute*3 ; Eagle Eye*1 and a lots of red armor in backpack.

(*) Killed everyone on previous levels(i like to clear ALL), but appearence of Arch-Vile blocking way to exit destroyed all plans to even survive this level. I can imagine that you can kill Arch-Vile with pistol if you have all perks related on pistols, at least 100% hp and nobody biting your in ass. Otherwise you will win only with dozens of luck.
(**) Visited only Chained Court, because i won't survive with pistol on arena even 1 round. The only reason to visit The Wall with pistol was to look at the wall, to listen to the sounds and then go away.
(***) Not bad set of perks, but not the best. If anybody have an idea about the better - post here.

well, 0985 seems to be quite possible to win for experienced player(but i tested only on Hurt Me Plenty, haven't opened yet Ultra Violence, or Nightmare!).

I was third, who downloaded new version! BIG thanks to Kornel, it's REALLY great!! And after several hours of play(mayber 3 or 4) i beat the CyberDemon. Strange, but playing on Hurt Me Plenty isn't so difficult at all. Only Arch Viles are very tough, but new perk Intuition was created especially for them)) It is fun to fire rockets in unexplored area targeting only on red dots.))  Maybe it's cheat, but Arch Viles are cheaters too. Who was in Mortuary, they understand.)) Intuition is a VERY usefull perk, even on its first level. It saved my life, without it i surely won't be able to did it in first time. Also it's good that exp.levels requires less experience to archieve. On first levels, when you need only little amount of experience to proceed to next exp.level, it helps a lot to andavantege fast to good perks.
I haven't used shotguns at all. I tried, but it's not advantageous, i picked EagleEye as starting perk, and found a chaingun on level 2, so chaingun was much better. And later it is no reason to use double shotgun(in last version i always used it), because i had approximately 70 rockets, and it allowed me to use them everywhere. Really, there was no problems with rockets at all. And Cyberdemon i killed with only rocket launcher(he-he, targeting on red dot on the other side of map))). Unfortunately found no thermonuclear bomb at all. So only killed Cyberdemon)) But for first try it's not bad))
One more, to Kornel. On levels, where played music from first level(first, of course, and 21 or 22), sometimes sound of monsters sounds only halfed. Sound begins, but quickly silences. It's not a critical bug, but, i think, you want to know.
