What most people probably don't know is the fact that tactics also affect damage (it's x0.5 for coward and x1.4 for berserk)
now thats what i really wanted to know, thanx... was just trying AoB using only coward tactics... seemed hopeless, now i see why =) i thought the damage change is much less =)

yeah, i liked that game. lots of interesting situations =)
i was going for 15lvl AoM to become a lieutenant, which i achieved. after hitting lvl19 i thought its possible to complete the challenge, which i didn't =)
enter to arena wuz generated at lvl2 and i wuz still lvl1 at that moment. but still i decided to fight =) going for some xp... and a damned fool i am, coz i forgot to get secondary pistol in'ere =( i got 2lvl after few kills, and 3lvl right about the end of 2nd arena battle. so if i had a 2nd pistol - i would become a champion, get 2 BA and supacharge for next level... NEVER forget ot get 2nd pistol =) though first levels are very easy, so i survived without these missed boosts. =) the funny thing, that i found lotsa cool upgraded weapons, which are not so often in normal game...
the real deal started near 14lvl =) was surrounded by 4 cacodemons and 2 barons, they made a lot of pain as I ran... (in fact it was very stupid mistake - i pressed the walk button three times in a row...) after dealin with'em had no even decent BA there and wuz very low on HP. no medkits, phase devices, just one shiny thermonuclear device which kept my heart warm (was thinking of take CD with that if couldn't kill him normally)
at that point i realized my huge mistake in choosing traits. firstly i went with SoaG(2)-DG-SoaG(3), which is ok, i think. and then i decided to try Intuition(3), which would made lotsa benefit - just shoot enemies from afar. i found, that it would be very hard to get intuition... maybe its possible, but you should kill lotsa enemies without it first. so it's not worth it, imo.
still i was hoping it would work =)
levels 15-17 were interesting. was using lotsa barrel-shootin', outofview-shootin' and made monsters hurt their friends =) easily nailed 2 arachnotrons in 8x8 room just by aligning them in one line. got just -30% HP =) and thats without making them go melee. i think its really possible to kill more of them this way. but luck is needed =)
18lvl was caverns with arachs, so i jumped right to the nerby stairs =) was low on HP there, too.
found lotsa ammo and RA at 19lvl.
again lvl20 was alike 18, but no stairs near. tried to sneak by the bottom of the map, there was many 'natural pillars' =) occasionallly one or two arachs seen me and crawled closer. i managed to kill about 5 of them and was down to ~30% hp. but all was in vain - the pillars ended and there were at least 4 arachs more =) damn if i could pull of what i wanted in the next turn, i would be proud of me =)
there were tho small globes, here's the map (as i remeber it, its not much accurate - just to make things easier to imagine =)):

i didnt know, where the stairs then and i never used thermie before, so for some wierd reason a set it off (actually i though that theres no way i gonna make it alive, so tried to take those bad boys with me =)). then i ran without shooting to the first globe and took it. surprisingly i was alive. at that point i saw the stairs and understood how bad was my thermie idea. the second globe goes then. and still i alive and has some hp left for running. damn i was soo close. the clock ticked at 3 seconds and the stairs were a bit further than that in the future. still i ran just to check if arachs would kill me or not. they didn't and i had some hp to make it to stairs...

by the way, anyone knows if thermie kills monsters if you leave level? =)

hell, i would i spent these three traits on TaN(3) - that would very good against arachs.

and congratulations to me - now i am cacodemon lieutenant =)

Great Game. make it better =)
i really dislike current tactic system. you should change to coward when not shooting and back to aggresive (mostly, dependant on traits and some situations) when givin'em some bullets... i read somewhere in a forum, that there will be changes. good. =)
difficulties are awesome (finally beaten the game in easy mode =))))  ), anxious to unlock Nightmare! mode =)
challenges are very good too. different game expiriences.
tracking system is probably too simple at the moment to say of it as an ub3r feature =) i'd like to see it extended.
i think the game really needs more different types of random levels/rooms. it will kick demon's ass.
also, personnaly, wanna a bit more teleporters =)

Wait! These could be the messages when leaving without kills :-P.
sounds very nice. a though just came in my mind: if player exits every special level without kills - reward him (or do something to him) =) some levels will do you some damage if you will not fight back on the way to the exit =) afaik not every special level could be found in every game, so this could imply to all spawned special levels or to a specific number of levels you have to visit... this could for example open some new special level =)
hell, i know that makes little sense... just talking...

I took brute and tough as nails... dont remember which first... it is mostly not so hard to get close to enemies, so i think speed bonus from hellrunner is not so important...
i noticed that if i took two brute traits then i had no good protection, and if i took two other traits first - damage level is too low... though TaN and Brute are not the only options here, of course. i tried to modify my toHit too, but dont know how melee works =)
i am kinda noob, managed to get to lvl9 on medium AoB in four tries.
