-- General ---------------------------------------------------

70 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
 61 of those were killed.
1 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual.
And 3 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.

 5 souls destroyed the Mastermind...
4 killed the bitch and survived.
1 showed that it can outsmart Hell itself.

Okay. Finally done with this and I can take a small break and do something fun, like Ao100 or go for Arena Diamond.

Comments:

After a comment I heard earlier I decided to go for shottyman BEFORE going for gunrunner, and that worked amazingly. It meant that as soon as I unlocked Gunrunner (which was fairly soon since it was UV), I could use it to its full potential. Anything before that would just be cowardly sitting behind a corner popping caps. It worked very well because when i started getting Vs, I could just be like ops my finger slipped and pown everything with elephant gun.

I accidently went down the wrong set of stairs when the chained courts spawned. Oops. Good thing I did. Now that I know 100% kills, is skipping the CC really worth the price?

I pay it gladly.

Thankfully I got Hell's Armory instead of Deimos labs. That would have really made me a sad puppy. The shambler is still a bit of a strange enemy to me but I killed it fairly without incident.

The wall was a LOT easier then I remember, even without Gunrunner or a Missile launcher/BFG/Unique. I mean, most of you probably eat it for breakfast but i'm proud that I did that nasty thing on UV. Ate through about 2-3 large medpacks though.

Level 12 gave me the Abyssal Planes instead of City of Skulls. I was quite excited because City of Skulls is hilariously easy on a shotgun run.

Then I spawned in the middle of some Hell Knights. OH MY

Luckily I got Gunrunner that level? so I could do some running and gunning.

Eventually cleared it out. I don't know when these new levels were introduced, but the lack of information on the wiki is kinda sadface. Offtopic, but is there some kind of mod that would allow you to remove Fog of War so you could map the levels for wiki purposes? I don't know how they did the old ones. Agony elemental was, however, a total complete joke with Gunrunner.

I would have easily gotten the Tower of Babel without damage medal except the new aspect ratio of graphics mode made me go "durr, i have plenty of space, rocket launchr explosion not DAT big hurr". I rue that, but i'll do it again on an AoMr run or something.

I didn't find a technical mod pack so I just made my Red armor B from the anomaly into nanofibre. Good enough.

I skipped the vaults despite having a lot of Medipacks and the Hell Staff. I could have gone for the Scavenger Diamond but 1) Heavily luck based achievements really suck imo and 2) I didn't want to ruin my run by phasing into a pack of VR and spontaneously combusting. Sue me.

I found like a bajillion thermies this run. I happened to spawn next to an invulnerability globe in floor 20, and it said that I was being hunted or some crap. Things started appearing around me (Where is this stuff on the wiki?) and after 3 Vs buttrushed me I was like "no screw this" and just nuked it. Moving on.

Level 22 spawned Mt Erebus instead of the Lava pits and after that little stint with the Abyssal Planes I was quite hesitant to go down. However, 2 thermies staring at me in my inventory made me do it for the lava elemental. Turns out it's quite a bit easier then the lava pits because you can pick your battles on somewhat safe terrain.

The Lava Elemental confused me though. The first time I beat it i kinda kited it, but with 70 shotgun shells that's not really an option on UV. I tried to Gunrunner it but it kept exploding me - the missiles from it work similarly to Rev Missiles I presume? What's a good way to beat this guy?

Anyway, he used up a lot of my spare medipacks. Not that I cared because the last few levels were a joke, even when I got something that was like
VMVMVMRRVMRVRMM. Missile Launcher + gunrunner :|

Didn't find a double shotty this run until like floor 20 which made me sad. =[

When I got to Dis i was really conflicted. I remember doing a Full win back in 0.9.9 and not getting 100% kills - and that was the point of this run, to UV/100% with Gunrunner. Eventually I just decided to nuke the mastermind for the lulz, and did so. When I went down to the fortress I wasn't sure if nuking it while not invunerable counted as a full win - does it count as a normal, partial or full? - but it didn't matter because apparently killing JC now kills the monsters he spawns too (I'm okay with this).

So, in conclusion, i've stopped pulling my hair out now and i'm happy.

Even if it's a crappy achievement.

I'm still happy.

Maybe I misunderstood, but are you really calling UV 100% full win a crappy achievement? O_O

I have to try this build and trait combination. Since Shottyman now works with rocket launcher weapons, the synergy iwht Gunrunner and missile launcher looks like having an awesome potential - and your run certainly proved it.

One thing springs to mind - why did you wear those gothic boots for the final fight? They seriously hamper your movement speed, and I believe that those A-modded steel boots would allow you to kill JC even quicker in terms of game time (= less actions for JC).

Anyway, great run - congrats! :)

Yeah, it's a bad achievement compared to a lot of things I see around here. I'm aiming to get a nightmare win or some other diamond badge, that'd make me happy.

I had no idea i had the gothic boots on. As you can see, I had a agility modded steel boots in my inventory - I switched to the gothic boots to walk through some lava on hell level 7 and obviously forgot to change back. My bad ^^;

Gunrunner does awesome things with the Missile launcher or the elephant gun.

I don't care if intuition is noobish, by the way. I got it because it was a better pick then Ironman/Brute/SoaG which were like the only available traits. I didn't even do any out of LOS sniping without confirming what the enemy was - I just used it to avoid opening a door and getting pasted by Mancubi. So many times, man. So many times.

I will say that once you've got Gunrunner on that build Int 1 is a MUST. It helps you plan your little stints with gunrunner and can dictate how you play the level - the more little health globes you see the more you can afford to play it safe with running.

Well, the easiest Diamond badges (without Sereging) would be Technician (discover all assemblies), or Gatekeeper (Anomaly and Babel without damage on UV), which is very achievable especially on a AoMC run (personally, I'd recommend a Cateye build for that). You would probably need a lucky phase in the Anomaly to avoid the initial ambush though.

Yeah, but I want to actually do something HARDCORE. Like Arena Diamond or something. Yeah, let's do that. Good times.

I might work on advancing my crappy ranks first though. @_@

Something HARDCORE, you say? OK, just wait till you get your first Diamond and then check the Angelic badges requirements. You'll have your hardcore in no time ;).

I accidently spoiled myself on the wiki for that one. Centurial Angelic looks "do-able" unless every one of the last 566 levels is literally cyberdemons.

The others are pretty impossible though.

To each their own. I felt Marksman Platinum was easier than some of the other Platinums I've gotten up to this point. Barring...Armorer Platinum, I guess.

Grats or whatever.

Grats or whatever.

I wasn't honestly going for the platinum, I just wanted to do a UV 100% kills because I wanted to do a UV 100% kills.

Marksman platinum would probably be "pretty easy" due to infinity fast firing time and Gun Kata.

When it comes to badges, saying things are pretty easy are always relative, of course.

Well, you're a far better player than I.

Really now? :p (http://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php/topic,6727.0.html)

Good work.

If you've moved up to UV 100% after a few weeks of getting back to the game, then Nightmare! should probably come to you eventually, though it is a bit of a cliff difficulty-wise. AoMC is generally regarded as being easier than the standard game (Arch/AoLT too to a lesser extent), so you can use those to get used to dealing with respawns.
