I'm not sure if this is a bug or more of a 1 in a million game error. but..
I was playing a nice and easy game of doomrl on ITYTD, you know, just fucking around with it, when I thought "I wonder if pushing barrels into the teleporters works" and so I did just that... and god was I fucking stupid.
the 'random' teleport dropped the barrel ON TOP OF ME! it promptly exploded and killed me... I lost all my progress, not to mention this kick ass rail-gun... EPIC FAIL!
WTF happened?

I'll try to do the same and tell you something.
Edit: I tried doing this yet it's impossible to push barrels into teleporters, at least in v.0.9.9b2 version. ("Something's blocking the barrel").

hmm... odd... it doesn't do that to me... then again, i didn't download doomRL from this site. the is interesting....

I know if you teleport into a barrel, you die instantly. But a barrel teleporting on you? It is a little shock. I remember when playing ADOM I moved my character to an altar. I was quickly sacrificed.
Anyway, which version of DoomRL do you have?

heh, this might sound nooby, but how do i check what version i have?
here the thing, I'm used to things trying to teleport onto me, such as when I'm camping/waiting for those spider dudes (cant remember their names) in that spiders web level, the thing that scared me is out of all of the squares/space on the map, it chose the one next to it, conveniently, the one where i was standing. now, this was quite late and when I'm screwing around i tend to make movement errors, so maybe i stepped on the porter or something.... BLARG! I'm just trying to just this all behind me, life goes on, you know... lol.
oh, and on a unrelated note, when i save i copy the save file elsewhere, so when doomRL deletes the save file, i can simply replaces it and thus have a perma-save... does this count as cheating?

Yes it does, also called save-scumming.
