This started off as a rather standard fun run, planning on using the MAD trait with a combat shotgun, and hey, if I get an Assault Shotgun along the way, that'd be nice.

As it turns out, I find two Assault Shotguns in a row on level 6 and 7, enough red armor to clad an elephant, some nice Phaseshift Boots that served me through a near-fatal visit into the Lava Pits, and, to top it all off, the two greatest weapon Uniques in the entire game, almost back to back.

How do I get this lucky?

Discussion / RAILGUN! AAAAAH!

I got this in my last Ao100 run.  I was normally trying out a Combat Shotty build, and when I got this, that combat shotty got not a lot of use.

Especially on the later levels, this thing EATS Archvile/Mancubus/Baron/Revenant Stacks.

Two shots, and an entire row of the stack simply is dead.

Requests For Features / Suggestion: Slam-Firing

Slam Firing is where you take a pump shotgun and hold down the trigger and pump it rapidly, resulting in, basically, a crude semi-automatic shotgun.  This often damages the weapon, though.  Seeing as though the Combat Shotgun is a pump-action, we should be able to do this, and it would help with Combat Shotty Users.

Basically, what it would do is be a special firing mode for Combat Shotties that halves the firing time, but reduces the range of the shotgun to the 8 units that Double-Barreled Shotguns normally use, along with a 5% chance of breaking the weapon outright.

Off Topic / Why the Doom Movie Failed

Sorry, this should've been in Off-Topic.

I saw Resident Evil Afterlife last night, that terrible piece of garbage, and began thinking to myself, "How do they screw up simple video game plots?"  Of course, this led me to the greatest, in my opinion, video game movie screw ups EVER.

The Doom Movie.

Oh, it had promise!  The Rock was slated as one of the lead characters, if not THE lead character!  The other actors were.... Not really that important!  Hooray, there's gonna be an FPS-like segment!

But then it all turned horribly, horribly wrong.  Somewhere along the lines, the writers decided that the perfectly acceptable plot of "OH CRAP DEMONS HAVE INVADED MARS" and turned it into, get this, something WORSE than the original plot.  They took the Rock, and instead of making him into the protagonist badass marine, they turned him into the antagonist badass marine, where he would've fit PERFECTLY into the role of good ol' Doomguy.

If they attempted to stay at least faithful to the original game with its storyline, its references, and the fact that it should've just been gun, explosion, and gore porn, it would've been at the very least a cult classic, if not a nice call-back to the days of Predator, Alien, and the rest of them.

But they tried to make it into something that it is not.

They tried to make it into a serious story.  They tried to treat it like a serious topic, and they tried to insert serious drama.  Except that simply doesn't work with Doom.  Doom is about over the top violence, guns, and explosions, not drama and storyline.  I personally think we need someone like Alex Rodriguez or Quentin Tarrantino to give it that over-the-top ludicrous destruction factor if they were to try and redo it.

Well, what can I say.  I got lucky on this trip around, and had plenty of ammo at all times.

Most of the weapons/armor you see there are souveniers, or weapons I used in the past that served me so well that I didn't want to throw them away.  Note the Cybernetic Armor with Nano Pack, that thing saved me more times than I would care to say.  I tried to pretty myself up a bit before entering down the stairs, so that I didn't look like a total wreck.

I went for a Shotty Route, and found the Plasma Shotgun pretty early.  The Plasma Shotgun quite honestly is one of the best shotguns in the game if you can get ammo for it.  Wall-breaking, plasma damage, shotgun Spread, tight cone....  It's nuts.  But not as nuts as...

The two Super Shotgun combo package.

In one hand, we have a Super Shotgun.  In the other hand, we have a Super Shotgun.  Fire one at an Arch-Vile, swap, fire the second one at the arch-vile, Arch-Vile is dead in no time flat, along with causing death/SERIOUS damage to anything around said Arch-vile.

Also, using two blasters is like having an Ammochain Plasma Rifle without the accuracy problems or the trait restrictions.

The reason why I only have one health pack is because I had two cave levels in a row before level 100.  That kinda limits your options.

Unfortunately, Army of the Dead did little to save me from an Archvile who got too close, and blew up the Invulnerability Globe that would've saved me.

Army of the Dead would be far better if Hellrunner could be used with it, but again, potential for abuse....

Ah well.  I got the Assault Shotty VERY early, and that helped.  A LOT.

Requests For Features / Ideas for Implementing Spider Mastermind

Here is my idea for handling the Spider Mastermind.

The way I see it, the way to effectively inspire the same amount of sheer terror that it inspired in the original Doom is to make it fire 12 shots of 1d6.  Yes, that means it can effectively, if lucky, kill you in one shot.  I don't think that's unbalanced, really, because it's supposed to be slightly less dominating than the Cyberdemon, or, depending on your outlook, more dominating.

Obviously, it'd have unlimited ammo.

To allow for victory, it'd be knocked back very easily, to simulate how easy it flinched in the original game.

This is just my kinda brainstorming ideas.

I'm sorry if this is already slated for release.

Victory, at last.  At last!

I used my favorite little shotgun, as shown there, for most of the game.  However, it ran out of ammo, and I had to switch to the Missile Launcher.

Yes, I know, I'm a coward for doing it on easy.  But it was hillarious, I had berserk pack on, and he was hitting me for like 3 points of damage despite the fact he was shooting rockets at me.

And I didn't cheat at all!  :D

It's a new armor mod.  It allows armor to regenerate much like Malek's Armor, BUUUUUT.

Instead of one point per step, it would be one point per two steps, to ensure the continued dominance of Malek's Armor in regenerationness.

The Blind-Firer's friend.  This mod makes every shot shot by a player map out the parts of the map where the bullet goes.  Say there is a long corridor that you want to know if there's anything worthwhile down it afore you plunge in.  You just shoot your pistol with the Tracer Mod, and the map is revealed along the path of the bullet.

I don't know how hard this would be to code, or even if you people like it, but hey.

The difference that I have in mind is not just the name change.  It retains all of its stats except in one aspect: It becomes a one-handed weapon.  That means that if any of you little guys who do Dualgunner in non AoMarksmanship games would like to use two sawn-off shotguns for the full awesomeness effect, you can do so.  Not particularly effective, but I really don't see this changing any strategems, but simply being there as a little effect for those of us who don't always want to be 100% effective, more like 100% cool looking.

Edit: Shoot, I just realized I put this in the wrong forum.  Could an admin move it to Suggestions for me, maybe?

Seriously.  How do you get into the right and middle ones in The Vaults level.  It's tearing me to shreds.
