 DoomRL (v.0.9.8 (WIN-S)) roguelike post-mortem character dump

 Thomas, level 1 soldier, killed by a former human
 on level 3 of the Phobos base.
 He survived 1186 turns and scored 353 points.

 He killed 2 out of 46 hellspawn. (4%)
 My, was he a wimpy chump.

 Before him 36 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
 34 of those were killed.
 1 of those was killed by something unknown.
 And 1 couldn't handle the stress and commited a stupid suicide.

I would be INCREDIBLY SURPRISED if anyone could beat this YAWC. And because I never fired a shot, I can post it on the melee challenge too!

So anyway, if anyone thinks they can beat this, or comes close, please post it.

This, is what a 0% kill count looks like (took me 3 goes to get it, the FH's kept killing themselves!)

 Thomas, level 1 soldier, killed by a former human
 on level 1 of the Phobos base.
 He survived 956 turns and scored 29 points.

 He killed 0 out of 6 hellspawn. (0%)
 My, was he a wimpy chump.

Now we can have YAWCs! :)

EDIT: I might hold a little YAWC challenge (like the melee one), who can get the furthest without killing anything?

Maybe there's somthing even STRONGER than the cyberdemon on the surface! (Now you wish you didn't kill all those h's with the BFG)

Angel of curiousness

You must go down red stairs if there are any in a level. The stairs of that special level will only appear once all enemies are killed. With the exception of the wall (otherwise you'd start getting YASTWs, yet another stuck (at) the wall)

Angel of ass-kicking

Your game MUST end with a 100% kill count

Demon of *insert word here*
(WAY TOO HARD TO BE AN ANGEL BTW)

Your game MUST end with a 0% kill count. Only the cyber demon can die. But because you have no chance of winning, there are 3x the health globes.

Insta-beserk
Insta-invincible
Weapon gains +8 damage (short time)
Weapon gains +20% tohit (short time)
Weapon gains +3 damage (forever)
Weapon gains +10% tohit (forever)
Insta-levelup
More luck (ie. more special weapons, more ammo dropped, less arachnotrons)
Invisibility
All enemies die

etc.

Feedback:

AO crossdressing: <O_o>
AO grace            : 7x7 acid floors would become a lot more bareable as you slide through them.
AO the hunter     : Quite interesting, I'd like to try that one.
AO puppies         : see AO crossdressing.
AO the chace      : I don't get it.

My ideas:

Angel of melee:
Melee damage +50%
Melee tohit      +50%
Gun damage    -50%
Gun tohit         -50%

Angel of juggling
You can have as many weapons as you want weilded. But you must use them in a certain order (eg. RL, shotgun, chainsaw, RL, shotgun...) as if you really were juggling them.

Maybe you could make melee weapons just as good as ranged ones so that we could say "Will I do a melee game? Or a ranged one?" as if a melee game wouldn't be a joke, or a challenge to see who could get the furthest.

If melee did more damage then you could run up to an enemy with a chainsaw, do a cartoon style-vertical-slice-and-run-as-they-split-in-half and watch them take 6d6 damage (2d6 more than the dblshotgun)

"I'm on lower heatlh, but it was worth the 2d6 extra damage!"

And in the halls of carnage:

"Hmmm... BFG... or uber-chainsaw-ov-dewm? 8d8, or 8d10?"

Or that could just be a challenge mode.

Angel of melee:

Melee weapons gain +50% damage. Guns lose 50% damage.

I'm not sure if I understand your problem, but I'll take a stab at it anyway.

If you want to listen to other MP3s instead of the doom music then simply:
1. Open your doomRL folder (make sure its the windows version if you have both windows and DOS version)
2. Open doomrl.ini with notepad/textpad/whatever.
2a. Copy doomrl.ini into another folder, see 8. for reason.
3. Near the top it will say MUSIC1     = "music/0   -   intro.mid"
4. And below that it will go down to MUSIC21
5. Change the words in the quotation marks to "music/NAMEOF.FILE"
6. Don't take 5. litteraly! NAMEOF.FILE is just an example!
7. Get all mp3s you typed in doomrl.ini and put them in DoomRL\music
8. And you're done! If you dislike the music, or it doesn't work, then copy the unchanged doomrl.ini (see 2a) back to your doomRL folder.

When changing the MUSIC#s in doomrl.ini, this is what they all are:

MUSIC1 and MUSIC2: I don't know, I think it's the intro music.
MUSIC3: After-death music (when veiwing hi-scores and post-mortem)
MUSIC4 to MUSIC 21: Levels 1 to 18.

So put your exiting music in MUSIC20 and 21, just to increase the anxiety of finally meeting the cyberdemon.

Well you can do a YASDVP by using a thermonuclear bomb when you and the cyberdemon are on low health. This is not recommended if you have a plasma rifle that could take him out WITHOUT the death of you.
