When it gets funded on Kickstarter.

So maybe this will come with graphics by default... :D

I don't think so.  Graphics should be a donation incentive.  >.>

Well, a kickstarter campaign seems useless then, unless he is going to ask for a very low amount of money that he expects loyalists to pay.

Which he can just ask on the forums.

I just doubt you can expect people to help fund a game in this age when they see graphics are just a backburner idea to the dev. Either that, or I severely underestimate the Rougelike community (Very possible).

It's not an incentive, nor a "possibility". We're PROMISING AA-quality graphics and a top-notch GFX/Audio layer here :). Nothing of the community/friends DoomRL level, but serious commercial stuff.

This teaser was meant to show that we've got the skills to deliver what we promise. If you guys will follow us in this journey.

Right, and I expected as much. I'll glady watch to see how this turns out, and if I like what I see, I'll support it (If I have an income at that time).

Tbh, as long as it has that tactical feel that DoomRL has, I'll probably enjoy it.

I break to get ready for exams, come back, and then this.

I am so looking forward to this I don't even. This looks incredible.

Although, Thomas told me it was DBZRL so.... Nope, this is even better. I can't wait to learn more about this!

Please tell me that DBZRL is actually a possibility and not just a joke.

Jupiter Hell looks amazing though, may actually be my first kickstarter backing.

/me :)

I'm really interested in the whole "Spiritual successor to DoomRL" thing. I wonder what that entails?

Yes, we need more details about this game. Trailer does not tell anything at all. Let me guess one-lined descritpion.

Rogue-like SF-themed original IP (but using good old "fight with hordes of enemies literally from Hell" scenario that we all know and love) with 3D graphics and fast-paced mostly ranged combat rarely encountered in Roguelikes?

I especially wonder about enemies. While it is understandable some generic mooks (and related tropes, like Mook Maker (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MookMaker)) will always be needed, I sincerely hope it will be more interesting than "imp in different color and without spikes".

So... how does one walk on a gas giant? o.O
(Add: well unless it takes place at the core)

I would expect that action takes place on various moons around Jupiter.

Does this mean no more DoomRL? :(

I doubt it. Even when it was just Kornel, he managed to keep not only DoomRL going, but BerserkRL and AliensRL, and still managed to keep interfacing with the community fairly often.

Now the development team is much bigger and even though Jupiter Hell might be commercial-quality, I dare-say that they'll still find some time to work on DoomRL ;)

The worst case scenario that I can see happening is that releases to version 1 get either postponed indefinitely or version 1 gets fast-tracked and the community takes over management of it - but these are extreme.

I am the Chaos Fanatic! and am therefore simultaneously everywhere and nowhere.

But I support the development mostly through burning money to keep the infrastructure running, and fixing typos/grammar.  Not a coder though.

It doesn't mean I can't contribute money so that the artists and coders can do their jobs, right?

Not at all! I just thought that you coded as well, meaning you'd be throwing your money at yourself. :P

For the record, I take no money in whatever ChaosForge does.

KK can corroborate on that.  Also, stop shining the damn spotlight on me.  This is on Jupiter Hell, not thelaptop!

Oh yes, I'm sure.

When this hits kickstarter, I'll be backing it.

I am so ready to back this that my pocket is gonna burn a hole through my leg. If I weren't dirt-poor, I'd fund the whole thing myself. Even so, I'll be seriously considering the higher-tier options, even though I usually don't care about extra goodies. I just really want Jupiter Hell to make as big of a splash as possible.
