My fastest game ever! Wanted a break from Nightmare, and had never got this medal, so gave it a go. This was my 3rd try. Standard chainsaw stairdive, and spent most of it invulnerable.

1714 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
1570 of those were killed.
12 of those were killed by something unknown.
15 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual.
And 63 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.
54 souls destroyed the Mastermind...
4 sacrificed itself for the good of mankind.
40 killed the bitch and survived.
10 showed that it can outsmart Hell itself.

Nice time... even for E, that's a damn fast game.
...now just crank the difficulty up four more levels and shave off a minute and a half and you'll have Angelic ;)
-
Thanks! Maybe I'll give it a try just for laughs, but it looks impossible. Has anyone *ever* got that Angelic?
-
Presumably VANDAM did(along with every other angelic besides centurial), but he never posted mortems that I'm aware of. I can dig up the relevant thread if you're interested... It came up when he was requesting a difficulty mode above nightmare.

I think some of those badges are impossible.... HOWEVER I used to think N! in general was impossible so maybe I just need to adjust my perspective again.
-
Did VANDAM ever post videos? Man, I'd love to see how some of those were done. 'Win standard Nightmare! game with 100% kills damageless' - how many tries would this take!

I'd be more impressed by his mortem/video of Pacifist Angelic badge for winning AAoPc with only 1 kill when he apparently didn't know that you can bypass the Cyberdemon! (https://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php/topic,6182.msg53617.html#msg53617) :o
I don't think we're going to see any videos or mortems from Vandam, though; he says that he only plays for joy, (https://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php/topic,6576.msg57633.html#msg57633) and believes that showing mortems is a way of creating idols and hierarchy which "creates a kind of life that is awful."

Oh, it's definitely possible. I know this because I just played a game where I won a N! conqueror game with 100% kills all totally damageless, using only my fists, and I did it all in under 4 minutes, thus earning me 6 Angelic badges simultaneously! It was an amazing and impressive game and it's too bad that I didn't record it and that I can't share the mortem because that would be awful! :D
(Yes, I can be petty) :P

I got more than 1/2 way through that 1st sentence before I realised you were joking! Because I have *seen* the videos and mortems you come up with :-) Its one of the things that keeps me playing.
Yeah, claiming to have done something immensely difficult without any evidence, I think Occams Razor applies.

Cool! I'm glad I could inspire you! :D Let me know if there's a particular build/challenge you'd like to see me play.

Are you still trying to get Everyman Angelic? All my attempts at AoHu end very quickly.
-
I believe angelic is ArchAoHu... No levelup benefits. Even if someone could do normal N! damageless, they'd still be getting traits to help out as the game progressed, whereas an ArchAoHu would not and would still have to play essentially damageless.
Still, if anyone could do it(and have a believable mortem to show for it afterward), it'd be either tormuse or papilio.
-
Are you still trying to get Everyman Angelic?
I try it from time to time. I currently have 139 videos of myself failing to do it, including the one I posted where I beat the Cyberdemon. :) I'm gonna be busy the next few days, but I'll give it another try soonish. :)
-
Any chance of a video with the graphics edition? Would love to see how you get that far in the challenge, but having never played the original ascii version I find it hard to tell what's going on... :)
-
I can absolutely do a video of the graphics version, but I'd rather not do it while trying to get Everyman Angelic, because on the rare occasions I play the graphics version, I really struggle at it, and I don't want to screw up a super tough challenge because I was confused by the graphics. If you have any suggestions of a slightly less challenging game to play, I'll gladly record it, though. :)
