Off Topic / Re: Your roguelike reccomendations
« on: March 10, 2014, 12:09 »
Have you tried Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead? I've been playing it quite a bit recently, it's got tiles (although admittedly i prefer the ASCII), and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a roguelike or a survival-style game.

Bug Reports / Re: [0997G WinXP] Phaseshift Set [WARNING: SPOILERS]
« on: November 12, 2013, 11:16 »
Still, I'd say the resistances should be updated too. Why have all resistances that 'zerking causes displayed - when Doomguy is in hardly any shape to do number-crunching at that point - and not for the phaseshift set?

I'm not certain but I don't think the phaseshift set's effect increases resistance, I think it adds a flag that just makes the wearer immune to damaging floors.

Generally, exotics are purple and uniques are green

He means the actual graphic. In g-mode, the ASCII colours are reflected in the outline - the actual armours have various colours.

@Yholl:
in this thread tinyrodent made a sandbox wad that automatically spawns all the items in the game, so you can open it in the custom games thing and look at things to your heart's content - it's in post #7

disclaimer: it might not actually work in the latest versions because the last update was for a 0.9.9.6 beta but i hope it does

A final question: How do you combat knife throw the AoD to death? I've thought about it and the notion of having more runspeed then it makes sense, but I can't practically see how you could within the small space of the cathedral and the angel pursuing you directly (meaning diagonal movement), making it hard to circle it to pick up your knife.

You can run around the Cathedral in its entirety, there's a path surrounding the lava lake the Cathedral sits in. I imagine there's also some finicky-as-all-hell way to do it within the cathedral, but you'd need a really high movespeed to be able to lure it properly and not get torn apart.

Requests For Features / Re: Automatic medpack use.
« on: September 04, 2013, 08:59 »
I can see where you're coming from, but this makes the game too easy.
Knowing when to use medpacks and knowing how much health you need to do various things safely is an integral part of this game, and taking that away by allowing you to automatically heal would weaken the game and its players. I think a trait that automatically uses medpacks would be overdoing it, as you'd come to rely on it much as I did with, for example, Intuition 2 before it was nerfed.
There is a way I can see something like this being implemented though, maybe in the form of a special auto-medpack item in the vein of Fallout: New Vegas, that gets used automatically when you drop below a certain health level - it's a backup plan, but not one that will save you in the face of insurmountable odds (as your HP will drop too fast for it to do anything, or you'll be killed immediately from above the health threshold).
An interesting thought though, and I'd like to hear other people's views on this.

How does Grammaton Cleric Cross work? Do you have to kill Mastermind with the Beretta, or is just shooting him enough? Wiki says, that the requirements are "Mastermind shot with the Cleric Beretta". I have shot him with it, his status changed from unhurt to scratched, then I nuked him for partial (I also went for Fallout Gold Cross). But no Grammaton Cleric Cross for me... :(
You do indeed have to kill the Mastermind with it, I believe.

Discussion / Re: Jackhammer with MAc?
« on: June 04, 2013, 14:37 »
Perhaps it's because you can't chainfire?
That would be the logical reason, the balance reason is (probably) that the Jackhammer is pretty powerful already, its main drawback is the ammo consumption. You'll probably have to wait for official reasoning from the dev(s), these are just what I think are the most likely explanations.

Modding / Re: Changing the ammo system?

According to the wiki, one sniper weapon pack causes a weapon to have no range penalties to accuracy, and a second one causes it not to suffer any penalty against hitting a target you can't see. Are there some new item flags that set this behaviour? The wiki states that IF_AUTOHIT is used by sniper packs, but I assume that's for older versions where a sniper pack just caused a weapon to always hit.

Yep, it was split into IF_FARHIT and IF_UNSEENHIT for the first and second mods respectively.

What.
What.
whaaat

First N! win and it's not only a full win but a 100%
Kudos!

+3 damage, actually, and I'm guessing he didn't want to lose the Longinus Diamond?  Can you get Brute after you complete UC and still get Longinus Diamond?  I've wondered about that, but never tried to find out.
Yeah, you can. The badge is awarded when you leave the UC (or kill the AoD), rather than at the end of the game, I believe.

Sure, theoretically, but there are practical limits, like the patience of the most patient person in the world, or maybe heat-death of the universe =P

hmm...

Please feel free to berate me on my appalling use of mathematics. I am going to use the excuse that I am tired and have not had a cup of tea in a while as an excuse, rather than the actual reason, me not being particularly good at any sort of statistics or probability.

And back sort of on topic:
I am glad that it's been proven possible!
I can easily imagine how enraging sergeants and blindly rampaging demons would be on this challenge - good luck getting it ;) !

Just got imploded by an arachnotron in the spider's lair :(

Does anyone know where I could find the number of damages you take when an enemy teleports on you ?
Thomas' post here says that an enemy teleporting onto you will deal 10 damage and you teleporting onto an enemy will instantly kill them. The post was from 2009 so it's possible the damages were changed since then.

Uh, I think Juggler makes your swap-to-prepared time zero regardless of what's in your prepared slot.
If you're talking about exotics and uniques on the numpad for quick access, I think (but I'm not sure if it still happens) they wouldn't work if you had them on the numpad.
If you want to try it to see if it works, here are the IDs: http://doom.chaosforge.org/wiki/Modding:sID#Items
