I'm not even totally sure what the running/tired system does myself. I do know that tired mode won't go away over time, but it WILL go away from using medkits/health globes/berserk packs, and by going down stairs (all of these will, strangely, take you out of running mode, too). I imagine Invulnerability globes/Megaspheres do the same thing, too. Honestly, though, coward mode helped a LOT for getting away from swarms, and for dodging to get into chainsaw range for those AoB games.

I had this problem a few weeks ago, after finishing the two challenge modes to rank up to Captain. Both games were removed from my player record and my highscore list, but my mortems were retained. I have no idea what caused it, but until I know, I'm stuck on Lieutenant.

Bug Reports / All records of last session vanished...?
« on: January 28, 2008, 17:17 »
I didn't see anything in the reports like this, so I apologize if I'm reposting something already known.

I finished playing a couple games earlier today, including the two challenges to rank up to Captain. After I reopened the game a few minutes ago, all records of that are gone (highscores and records of it in my player profile, which is back to Lieutenant.) I still have mortems from the two wins, though, along with a whole lot of confusion.

First win since the upgrade, pretty much guaranteed from when I found Hell's Armory. Also, Necroarmor seems kinda neat, but whenever I used it, it ended up draining my health faster than if I wasn't wearing any armor at all. Still a nice touch. I'm hoping to run into a unique pistol on one of my later runs.

Pre-0.9.9 / Re: [M|AoMs|???]
« on: January 24, 2008, 20:41 »
If the nuke does 200 damage, the Cyberdemon could, in theory, survive the blast if you didn't hurt him at all before it went off. It has 200HP and 4 armor, after all.

Either way, nasty situation to run into. I didn't get credit for my first AoB run because of something similiar, so I know how bad that can be.

AoD isn't quite 100%, if I remember right. I'll see if I can get to the cathedral again to repeat it, but I've managed to get him to miss once or twice.

Also, while Arch-Viles normally couldn't miss in Doom 2, their attack was incredibly slow, and if you could get out of their LoS somehow before it completed, it would fail automatically. Perhaps it's not totally accuracy-related, but shouldn't they be slowed down a bit, so you have a small chance to dive out of the way of their attacks?

Bug Reports / Re: Cruel level start
« on: May 08, 2007, 23:51 »
If you have a gun when surrounded by lost souls like that, I'd just take my chances blasting the barrel, and hope the explosion kills them before me. Not pleasant, but survivable...barely. However, on AoB?...Yeah, you're dead.

But the point still stands. This might be fine a little later on, but in the first couple levels of the game, it's overkill. I've had it happen to me on AoM once (on the second level), with nothing explosive in the room, and a lost soul guarding the door...I was able to kill two before I was torn apart.

The backpack is implemented, ja. It lets you hold more ammo, though not QUITE as much as it did in the original games. Still, more ammo is more ammo.

AoMr game:

SoaG->SoaG->DG->DG->SoaG->Fin->Fin->Fin->TaN->TaN

Heh...A man after my own trigger finger. Just one question...Wouldn't you technically get a bigger boost from maxing out SoaG before leveling up dualgunner again? No offense, since I like your strategy, I'm just very technical-minded sometimes.

I've been curious as of late. After playing more AoM games, I've discovered that SoaG really isn't working like I think it would. The firing time reduction seems to work fine. (3 levels in this, plus 1+ in Finesse, and I can unload entire clips into monsters before they can blink) Thing is, the damage doesn't seem to work like it should. Maybe I missed something obvious here, but the wiki seems to indicate that with 2 levels in SoaG, all former humans without armor, as well as imps, should die in 2 bullets. However, 9 out of 10 times, I need 3+ bullets to kill any of them, even with 3 levels in SoaG. Is there something I've missed here (Which will make this nice little paragraph, and myself, look very stupid)? Or is there something odd about how the SoaG damage boost works?

I wouldn't mind helping gather data for some of the newest content, if you're still looking for volunteers.

Well, in the old version, I usually went max TaN, then Ironman. In this version, I like to have fun with chainguns with two levels in SoaB, then max Triggerhappy, max SoaB, then max Finesse (If I can live that long).

I usually put 2 levels in SoaG on my AoM runs, if only for Dualgunner. However, I've been noticing lately that my shots seem to be weaker once I get the second level in it. With 1 in SoaG, I can kill imps with 3 bullets at most. Yet, with 2 levels in SoaG, while on Aggressive, I suddenly need 4-5 to kill every single one, and I've emptied entire clips into demons and still had them charging at me.

Long story short, I may take your idea and put some ranks into Eagle Eye first.

Discussion / Re: Cyberdemon On Higher Levels?
« on: May 01, 2007, 03:48 »
I've never heard the Cyberdemon's death sound anywhere before seeing him. However, it's a little odd that the Arachnotrons use the Spider Mastermind's death sound.

...Also, running into Cybie early would be, to be frank, quick, horrible death...Though he DOES appear more than once in Doom and Doom 2...

Doesn't seem likely. I ended a game in aggressive mode with maxed Brute, and my ToDmgMelee was still +9.

2 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual.
And 1 couldn't handle the stress and commited a stupid suicide.

Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 1 souls claim to have killed him...
1 killed the bastard and survived.

Got to the Chained Court no problem, and things went smoothly after 4 straight cacodemon filled caves. Ranked up to Cacodemon, and it didn't bug out and not count the win like last time...Thank. God.
