got the diamond on cateye max carnage on the first try. going from N! AoD to playing max carnage on UV makes it almost not fair for the monsters
still haven't used fireangel in a game... should do that some time as it looks like a totally different play style

lol actually it looks like the oversight is mine as you need to clear it to get the diamond not just pass through. on UV i'm assuming the technique would be the same, by phasing past the trap, killing the bruisers first and then instead of leaving, going back for the trap enemies?

went again for the hunter diamond through max carnage. was playing carelessly and missed the red stair on deimos 1. since i phased passed the anomaly i figured i'd try for the gatekeeper diamond - i guess you have to be on UV to get it? was playing carelessly after the cyberdemon

on UV you should be able to get vampyre + wk2 before the cyberdemon i think? you're almost guaranteed an agility pack in phobos, and would certainly be very unlucky if you don't get one by deimos lab/hell's armory, so while not 100% guaranteed, it seems fairly likely you can get the right mods in order after WK1/2 to make the boots before you need them

thanks guys, i'm only able to make real progress in N! so far on AoMc, aside from the stairdiving chainsaw runs
the experience boost on nightmare plus AoD's double xp feature makes this a little easier than it would sound on the surface. one of the hardest levels to get past is level 1, you pretty much need a spawn that has the base close to your starting position. the few starts where you have to move through open space and trees leaves you wide open for shotguns, and i usually get killed here
but going into level 2 with int 2 is extremely helpful. at worse you're dealing with cacodemons here if there is a vault, and you're almost always guaranteed a chaingun, which on AoMc cuts through formers and imps with one blast, demons with two, and since AoMc cancels out accuracy penalities, picking off monsters at the edge of intuition's range becomes far easier. i didn't do anything in hell's arena beyond run for the exit and maybe blast a demon or two in my way, but this was still enough for me to pick up cateye by level three, which more or less neutralizes AoD's vision hinderance. from this point on you level up ridiculously fast, going into phobos lab i had two levels of hellrunner and was able to dance around the nightmare demons with ease
had i picked up another homing phase device i'm confident i would have blinked out of limbo and gotten to the end with ease. hyperblaster F1 + SoB 5 and Th 2 on MC is absolutely devastating

shooting for the hunter diamond... AoD makes you level up absurdly fast so i was able to get int 2 on level 1 and cateye by level 3. mostly smooth sailing until i got pounded on in limbo. should have used all my skulls at the beginning and just bfgd my way out of things. oh well, maybe next time

thanks - max carnage makes your burst weapons incredibly overpowered. with an unmodded chaingun and no skills into it, you can kill formers and imps in one burst, demons and hell knights with two, and its not unreasonable to have a gatling gun with SOB3 and TH2 before the anomaly. as such, normally difficult boss fights like the arena master and the shamblers become total pushovers and for the normal levels its a great build for run waiting. the vast majority of kills were spent camping in a secured room and blasting stuff as they come in the doorway. you also get far more ammo and situational versatility than with the shottyman run, so you can reliably use everything monsters drop
for what its worth i still can't get past the anomaly on regular nightmare non-stairdiving runs, i'll have to see what badges i can clear with max carnage before attempting that

had another unsuccessful attempt at this after the one i posted - got a poor start on hell 6 that i probably could have bfg'd my way out of if i was thinking properly. this one went better, no plasmatic shrapnel here so stuck shooting stuff in doors and using missiles to burn corpses. overall i think this badge is easier than shottyman angelic. with max carnage the chaingun is incredibly powerful, and once skills get put into it and it becomes the gatling gun, it can kill almost anything in one burst. jc didn't stand a chance against the hyperblaster. 100/666 floor challenge is probably next

UV vaults by luck is pretty easy, i think vampyre is the easiest build for non-nightmare runs. good luck!

at least the run was a lot of fun and doesnt look too hard to duplicate. assault shotgun was a lucky find but sniper mod has a good chance of appearing and works just as well in the regular shotgun for burning stuff, which makes the mid-late game so much easier

ahhh that definitely explains it then. i'll have to keep this in mind next time for better corpse placement. the anomaly was probably a lot tougher than it could have been, especially considering i only had an unmodded chaingun and combat shotgun. plasma guns normally show up earlier on nightmare so i was kind of surprised i didnt get one by this point

thanks - wish nightmare had the ability to save so its easier to break up the sessions
also i'm still puzzled about the trouble burning the nightmare demons. i also had issues with the revenants in deimos lab and some of the monsters on mt. erebus. does it calculate fire damage differently on unbreakable walls? i've never had trouble burning baron corpses in the chained court when they get close to the border, so i was puzzled why like 3-4 rockets weren't burning the demon corpses. by the time i was to mt. erebus i had my plasmatic shotgun so i was able to burn them that way

shot for a veteran angelic doing max carnage, had a smooth run through phobos until the anomaly - first time making it this far on MC, died last time in the trap, but phased out this time and narrowly got past. several nightmare demons wouldn't burn from multiple rockets to their corpses so i had to juggle them for longer than i'd like. almost got myself killed doing something stupid fighting the revenants in deimos lab (down to 6%), but got rewarded with onyx armor, an assault shotgun and sniper pack. easy going until the spiders lair where i must have missed one corpse respawning which threw the run. fuck! thats what i get for having a beer or two and not paying as close attention to the stairs as i should have. rest of the game was easy from my equipment and build, but still a little annoying. at least it was my first shot at this in a while, so shouldnt be too hard to replicate a successful one
