I can't wait to see DoomRL speedruns!

Would replays show the happenings beyond the fog of war or would that just give people too great an insight into the hidden workings of the game?

Yeah I've seen Halls of Carnage (that's the one with 4 berserk packs and the chainsaw right?) come up more than once in a game.

How about having some of the special levels (arenas etc.) requiring you to pull a lever for it to be revealed?

Really? Manual doesn't list any unloading button, I'll give it a shot if I decide to challenge the cyberdemon once more. Probably not before 0.9.9 (I was so hoping for a v.1 too...)

Yeah I didn't find any specials at all or I somehow completely missed them! (and I scan a level before going to the next) I'd probably do any but the arachnid lair which would probably eat up all my ammo and items.

I finally managed to win too!
I didn't find the BFG, but I had shitloads of plasma ammo while the other ammotypes were slowly depleted... (note the multiple chainguns) I found a lot of red armors really early, but later on only one so I went through with damaged armor most of the time.

I beat him with some rocket shots that must have been lucky on the damage rolls and then after having teleported from a corner, healed and getting hit with a rocket I sniped at the out-of-range CyberDaemon (I was blown far back) with 2-3 plasma bursts which finished him off.

ALMOST 100%! I know the one I missed too, it was a hell knight camping in a corner and I didn't want to waste ammo on him...

Discussion / Nuke?

What are the thermonuclear bombs good for? First time I actually tried one was when losing against the cyberdaemon who unfortunately killed me before it went off.
The other time was when I found like 3 or so in a single game and tried to see if I could run from it... (which didn't work)

Are they for activating and leaving behind to clear levels you want to skip? That would make sense. Otherwise they're not much good are they?
