That's horrifically strong with Berserk. I say this since, as you probably already know, being in berserk status doubles the physical damage you do, so with this you're doing quadruple damage while berserking... You could probably take out Cybie in two hits flat in a Max Carnage run while berserking and the timer still going.

You're totally right. I wasn't thinking too much about balance, just modeling the TF2 weapon.

Then again, the random number god would never be so kind as to allow such a combination!

The Kill Gloves of Boxing

Description: I am coming to beat your ass!
Damage: 5d6
Accuracy: +2
Fire Speed: 1.5
Range: Melee
After getting a kill with the KGBs, its attacks will always do double damage for five seconds. Every following kill will extend the timer. Goes nicely with Blademaster.

The Blutsauger

The Blutsauger heals 1 HP for the player per successful hit.

The Flamethrower

Alt-fire: Airblast (instantly knocks the target back four tiles. Does 1d6 damage if they hit a wall or another monster)

Grenade Launcher

Description: They'll glue you back together -- IN HELL. Where we technically are. Shut up.

Alt Fire: Lengthens the fuse on the grenade to 16 tiles before detonation.
The grenade launcher is almost identical to the rocket launcher with one major distinction. Grenades can be bounced around corners, ricocheted off walls, and fired at other crazy angles, allowing the player to make crazy trick shots. Grenades will always travel 8 tiles before detonating, unless they hit a monster.

Fireangel never really struck me as that nice a trait, especially a master trait. Point-blank rockets are nice and all, but how much mileage do you really get out of it?

Very nice win!  It is possible to kill Cybie with weapons other than the plasma rifle/BFG, but they usually involve either being overpowered or doing the dance of death correctly.

And nukes are always welcomed!  It seems that you have seen lots of Invulnerability globes too right?  If so, this has been a really lucky run!  (=

I forgot to mention it, but the game was really liberal with invulns, even later on.

I just didn't feel like I could kill the Cybie in my current condition, although in hindsight I probably could have pulled it out. Oh well -- for the next run!

Yes, it is true.

However, there are other interesting games about this mortem. It's my first (partial) win on HMP. At the beginning, the game was hilariously generous with items, bathing me in medkits and weapons. When you're choosing between mod packs and health, you know you've got it made.

However, around the time I got into Phobos Hell, the gravy train stopped. I quickly ran out of health kits and actually had to clear a room with 8 mancubi and 2 archviles with the 80% or so health I had. I walked out of that with 20%, only to face a room full of barons and hell knights. Got through that with copious BFG spamming -- as you can see, I modded the hell out of my BFG. (On top of everything, the level exit was in the middle of a lava pit. Luckily it dropped a homing phase device)

As usual, Ammochain is the best master trait. This is mostly because the plasma rifle devastates anything you point it at, especially when you modded it as much as I did. When you get a technical on it, you can usually fire 2-3 volleys before anything else has time to react. Beautiful.

I reached the Cyberdemon with two small health kits, no armor, and two nukes. Oorah. I did not want to lose at that point, so I decided to go for the partial win. Was there any more appropriate end to this run? After all, when all you have is seven nukes, everything seems to look an awful lot like Nagasaki...

My first-ever Cyberdemon kill. The ADVTech pack was a major boon; with three agility mods I was making pretty much every Plasma Rifle round hit. I'm a little disappointed I didn't run into more mods, though, since a few of them could have made my rifle frighteningly powerful. As it was I could take down Barons in a barrage or two.

 The Plasma Shotty was useless for this run -- I kept my rocket launcher in the reserve, to knock down walls. Also, the game generated a Cybernetic Armor, but I forget to pick up after clearing the level. Sigh.

Shotgun Scouting is an excellent technique. The ability to detect and kill enemies from offscreen is what made me win this attempt, I'm certain.
