Title: Tooting My Own Horn (A Shameless Bit of Self-Promotion in E flat)
Post by: LuckyDee on May 25, 2012, 13:09
Dear fellow marines,

As some of you already know, I'm a musician and sound engineer who, after several years of little activity, is working on building a platform upon which to satisfy his creative urges. To achieve this, I'm creating my own semi-professional studio at home, which allows my to remix some of the recordings that I made in the course of my education, and to finally record all the tunes that keep floating through my head.
Eventually, I want to find other musicians to write and play with, and gradually start finding bands that want to have their music produced.

In order to start this all off, I'm creating my portfolio on both Facebook and YouTube, under the name of LuckyDeeIndustries. I hereby cordially invite you to check em out, and Like / Subscride if you like what you see/hear so far. It's still very much in its infancy, but I have more work to upload at hand, and once I have the equipment I want, even more material will be soon to follow.

To give you an idea of what to expect: I'm always on the lookout for music and bands that have their own sound, usually straying from the pop music norm.
Among my influences and music collection you will find names as Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, nearly everything that has Mike Patton in it (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, Tomahawk e.a.), Helmet, Clutch, Ween, Dillinger Escape Plan, Botch, Them Crooked Vultures, A Perfect Circle, Kyuss, At the Drive-In, Melvins, And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Mastodon, Primus, Deftones, Massive Attack, Portishead, Zero7, Spinvis, dEUS, Soulwas, Millionaire, System of a Down and many many more.

I'd be much obliged if you'd care to bear with me, and see what my little project turns into. Any feedback you care to give me is very welcome as well. Thanks in advance for your attention.

By the way: I'm sure that advertising in posts is frowned upon at least, but please be advised that although I like to speak of 'my company', it only exists in word. I have no commercial purposes (yet, at least), I just want the name LuckyDeeIndustries to be spread around as far as it goes.

As I mentioned, I'm aware of this possibly being on the borderline of what is and isn't acceptable. If I crossed a line, please let me know and I won't do it again.

In my defense: I can of course also post a link to every individual upload that I do in individual topics, or in another thread dedicated to my glory[/sarcasm]. I thought it would be easier to point people in the general direction instead and present them with the possibility of either keeping tabs without me having to post additional stuff to serve as a reminder/teaser, or simply choose to ignore it altogether.

I more or less want to achieve the same as Shinji_Ikari_9th does by posting his 3D art: recognition as an artist and a platform for showcasing my work. Ok, so what I do doesn't relate to Chaosforge or DoomRL, but I'm under no obligation to stick to these subjects only.

And at least I'm being perfectly blunt and honest about it...

It's Ok. LuckyDee isn't new on the forum, did post this in the Off Topic forum, marked it clearly as self-promotion, and did input something to the Forge. As long as this is a one time post, all is OK from my point of view. It's not as he's sellin' viagra or something, or asking for money :P.

Thanks, I'm actually very proud of it, even though it's a pretty poor piece of work from a production/musicianship point of view (I played the guitar parts myself, but ended up re-using only a few parts; the track is heavily edited but up until now, no one's taken notice). I actually got in touch with Studio100 to get their consent to post it as well, they were great about it. If you like it, spread the word!

And Kornel, thanks.

This was the reply I was waiting for.  =)

I say, go for it!  Not-so-secretly, I'm a musician myself, though these days I spend more time bashing out research than music.  =)

Well, please be my guest and check out what I have so far; I'm grateful for any input I can get. What kind of music are you into yourself (both listening and writing)?
