Thanks Bloax. Appreciate it.

It took me a LONG time to get as far as I did and I don't have much time to play in general. Even if the new version is gonna make a bunch of changes (yet again) to how the game plays, I hardly feel like starting over from scratch.

My external hard drive that I kept DoomRL and most my other games on decided to go catywompus on me a couple weeks ago. I had only just finally reached Sergeant Major a little while before this.

So I no longer have my player profile and have been put off at playing only to have to start over completely.

Anyone happen to have a profile just at Sergeant Major they'd be willing to share? I can't remember all my exact badges, but I know it was 13   bronze and 3 silver.

Looks like I might be screwed as far as keeping my rank in the new version anyways since my external hard drive that I kept the game on seems to be messing up on me :( waaaaaa!

I don't see Angel of Haste as Obsolete. :(  It still seems different enough from confident/over confident to keep around. I like the idea of Angel of Haste better than confident/over confident. Why not instead Keep Angel of Haste and make skipping to the latter two episodes an unlockable Episode select feature that is unlocked by beating the respective episodes for the first time? Maybe on a specific difficulty and not on AoH.

What will happen to the Angel of Haste related badges that were achieved? I would be pretty pissed if I lost my rank because AoH being removed means that I have one less badge that was the one that I got last time that finally got me my last rank. 

Is there going to be ending/intermission text and music after each of the 3 episodes?

GH: Don't mind me, just fixing the tag.

My first win after years of playing.

I was originally only going for getting to the mortuary so I could get the third silver badge I needed to get my next rank. But I soon found myself in Phobos Arena.
Unfortunately I wasn't very prepared. I only had one ammo box of shells of 100, my tactical and double shotty. I had a missile launcher with sniper mod too, but only about 10 rockets.

Wasn't doing very well and only had about 6% life left so I said screw it and set off the nuke I found fairly early.

I was getting screwed on health for most the game. I only ever had 3 small med kits and 1 large in my pack when I entered the arena.

Where can I find some tips for taking out the cyber demon in the event that I ever get there again.

It sure was satisfying finally getting to hear Motorhead's "Hellraiser" Which I set as the victory music when the game was over.

Just curious if anyone plays using the music and sound effects from the playstation n64 versions of doom? I've been thinking about setting it up with them but I can't find the sounds yet. Anyone tried it?

Just tried it out. Definitely was dead simple. Fun though.

When I was done though, it didn't go back to the main title screen though. I got a bunch garbled text and numbers in the console then it just crashed and went back to windows.

Also noticed that the arachnotrons use the demon's hurt sound. Don't they have their own that can be used instead?

I noticed that the music for the first level is always randomly chosen when ever I play angel of haste but all the others go in the same order. Does this mean there is a way to randomize the music chosen for each level in general?

Come on dude. That's hardly helpful/constructive. Or true. Been playing for years but am a casual player and don't get to play that much. I have played angel of haste before and usually play a challenge game when I do play. I only just now noticed the level names with angel of haste.

Tehtmi and Game Hunters explanations on the other hand were very helpful in clearing it up. From the in game text and the wiki description, I don't really see how anyone would know it worked that way unless they were familiar with the inner most workings of the game.

I do assume that when I died it said I was on phobos hell level 1 but the mortem said I died on phobos base level 8 is a bug. No way that is intentional.

When it says that it effects special level generation, I assume that means that any levels that only spawn on the odd levels won't appear? So the Mortuary for instance should still appear if it spawns on level 22 (or level 11 in this case)?

Why?

No offense, but it doesn't really make sense to me why it would be intended that way. If I was skipping every other level I would expect it to display the level correctly. As it is, if it says I'm on level 6, I have to figure I'm actually on level 12. And if it says I'm on phobos hell level 2, now I have to figure I'm actually on phobos hell level 3/level 18. Kinda annoying in my opinion.

ah, Pacifism means you can't attack at all.  you gain levelups sometimes when going down stairs (every third level, plus special levels on those floors).

Ah. ok I get it now. Sorry. I still have one more silver to unlock before I can actually get to play Angel of Pacifism. Got arena and technician silver. Tying to go for reaper silver by playing angel of haste. That and berserker silver are my best chances I think. For my skill level anyways. Still never one a game in since I discovered it in 2008.

Anyways, on topic. I forgot to mention that maybe you shouldn't be able to gain the regular badges by combining challenges since it actually might make some of them easier. Like playing angel of berserk with angel of haste would probably make getting the berserker silver badge much easier.

Just played an Angel of Haste game and I noticed that it was not showing the proper level numbers on the bottom right of the screen. I assume it actually was skipping the odd levels since I didn't start on the base level, but the level numbers on screen went from 1 to 7 which is how far I got. I assume I was actually on level 14 though since the level before had an entrance to the halls of carnage.

Another thing is that the music didn't seem to play properly. The music tracks played in sequential order from 1 to 7 instead of skipping every other track as expected.

***edit***

Just played again and made it to level 16 and I noticed that it said phobos hell level 1 in the bottom right when I died which I guess is correct, but in the mortem, it said I died on phobos base level 8. Also,  the music plays in the sequential order from level 2 on up instead of skipping every other track, but level 1 plays a different track. Not sure which one yet.
