played this today at work (i know, bad me)which explains the absurd playtime (lots of idle time, and i had to reboot 3 times)^^
i was blessed with awesome weapons (only 3 of them but i used them to the fullest) blasting the levels to pieces with the adv.rocketlauncher was so much fun ! arena, wall, armory and halls gave me an neverending supply of rockets. the adv. super shotgun was very awesome but overshadowed by the big mother of shotguns, the jackhammer. i also realised how big of a deal the dmg. penalty for distance is with the double shotty...i had 10d3 (x3) which translates to 30-90 dmg per button press, but i still needed 5 shots sometimes for a freaking cacodeamon that wasn´t even full range away...=/ so the jackhammer prooved worthier, even with much worse stats, just because it has (almost?) no dmg. drop.

imo every good RPG needs criticals (for all the ninjas and snipers out there) so here´s my idea for doomRL.
maybe enemys shouldn´t be able to hit you critically, UV and N! games would be TOO random otherwise. i´d suggest the average player starts with 5% crit. chance and to increase it you´d have to get some kind of trait. maybe there´s 3 of them increasing the chance for 15% resulting in 50% crit.chance. or maybe 2 with 20% resulting in 45% crit.chance. and after "critical hit chance trait lvl 2" there could be a trait to increase the dmg. dealt per critical... (leading to some kind of sharpshooter master trait with EE3 or INT1)
...about the dmg. boost per critical...maybe 20% ? too much ? not enough ? dunno...
...maybe we need a new weapon class "rifle" for this to work because i think rockets could potentially break this, so this critical thing only works with pistols and rifles.
hope you like, discuss, i really think the whole space marine setting needs some sniper option ^^

wow, first time winning on H and first time EVER i faced JC and what makes it better i "managed" to kill him (more on that later). also first time i cleared the mortuary. i´m hyped
i came to JC with angelic armor, 2x red armor modded to 6/6 200%, and about 400 plasma cells...after 2min i was at the state you see in the mortem: no more bfg shots, no more armor...i lost all hope but decided to take as much MFs with me as i could...i blasted away at the darkness and melted every baron that came in my LoS...after 10min i realised that i could do this forever lol...and eventually i was lucky enough to kill JC to fully win the game for the first time ever^^.

i ran out of ammo for the chaingun in the halls of carnage, good thing i carried a combat shotgun as backup and i obtained MAC on the very last enemy in that lvl. things got really easy afterwards. whizkid along the skill route for AC makes a very powerfull plasmarifle with infinite ammo...i also start to think this skill is a bit overpowerd (but it´s so much fun, don´t take it away, make more skills that broken)...only unique i ever used was assault shotgun in the city of skulls, boy what an amazing weapon. didn´t use the nuclear plasmarifle for obvious reasons and never bothered with the plasma shotgun. mortuary was pretty smoothe ride, some BFG shots here, some plasma rifle action there. but i think the angelic armor is a pretty shitty reward, now that armors are useless ^_~. i almost ran out of healthpacks but on 23 there suddenly where 3 lange ones lying around so good for me...i came to JC with angelic armor, 2x red armor modded to 6/6 200%, and about 400 plasma cells...after 2min i was at the state you see in the mortem: no more bfg shots, no more armor...i lost all hope but decided to take as much MFs with me as i could...i blasted away at the darkness and melted every baron that came in my LoS...after 10min i realised that i could do this forever lol...and eventually i was lucky enough to kill JC to fully win the game for the first time ever^^.

got a Grammaton Cleric Cross ^^
but i don´t think this challenge is correctly labeled as "easy" ! with the adv. Pistol on start it was back then, but i think it´s really tough without a unique pistol...i think AoSh is way more easy...mabe make adv. pistol the reward in hells arena...or is it on higher difficultys ?
oh and plz make all the uniques modable...i was bummed i couldn´t powermod the guns ^^

ok GunKata with GCB and anti-freak gun is awesome...the reloading time on the weapons makes the insta-reload so precious. anti-freak gun is my new fav. unique. sent the enemys flying through the stage..sad thing there where not enough high tier monsters in the later levels to test them on. and dodgemaster makes beating cybie a joke...bur reloading in the battle with him was a bitch ^_~but i don´t think this challenge is correctly labeled as "easy" ! with the adv. ok this time cybie didn´t even move before he was dead (i swear i had no invul. globe active)
ok, firestorm plasmarifle with ammochain is so imba...adv. rocketlauncher as backup also helps (if only there where more A-mods lol). cybie spawned right next to me, and he died doing nothing^^ why the hell are the lava pits that deep down (lvl23) ? the enemys and the rewards are laughable at that point (green armors and steel boots...)!
third time to complete the game in the last 5 days, i think i have to switch gears and play on some higher difficulty settings now (to spare you all the boring M mortems i´d have to post otherwise)

ok, firestorm plasmarifle with ammochain is so imba...adv. rocketlauncher as backup also helps (if only there where more A-mods lol). cybie spawned right next to me, and he died doing nothing^^ why the hell are the lava pits that deep down (lvl23) ? the enemys and the rewards are laughable at that point (green armors and steel boots...)!
third time to complete the game in the last 5 days, i think i have to switch gears and play on some higher difficulty settings now (to spare you all the boring M mortems i´d have to post otherwise)

ah well 99%, those 4 missed monster there are the 4 cacodemons in the chained court behind the lava -___- but i can´t let the easy exp of the former humans slip
really wow, i think i fired 50shells with the doubleshotty maximum. P2T2adv.combat shotgun is too awesome. made me feel like chainfireing a rocketlauncher. the unique armors where a nice touch but in all honesty, i wouldn´t have needed them. the game sent me to 3 demon caves in a row, easy exp lol. on lvl 23 or so the game was nice enough to spawn 2-3 arch-viles and 4-5 revenants in my starting room (it was a big room). tough battle, but the adv.cbt.shotty prevailed haha. cybie was a joke...berserk pack on lvl24 -> homing phase dev. -> C near entry point -> happy marine

now, cateye is great and all but i think intuition2 was far more usefull (especially paired with the missile launcher and all the rockets from the wall. and a speedblaster saves you so much ammo it´s out of control. everything up to cacodemons and painelementals (with the lost souls) died before it could do any harm. so yeah this would have been quite easy and i would have triede some of the later special levels but the game was nice enough to give 2 arachnotron caves in a row (3 total) leaving me armorless for some time, so the last levelsw still were quite a struggle. first 100% whohoo

so i just had the idea about the most amazing master trait ever !!!
what it does: changes double barreled shotguns weapon class to pistol, making it benefit from dualgunner and son of a gun
requirements: dualgunner and shottyman
pros: lol
cons: ok, how do we balance this ? it´s not guaranteed to find 1 or 2 doubleshotguns (*). shottyman would also forcereload the secondary weapon, so you take 5s to move one square if both doubleshotguns are empty (before applying reloader bla). so basically everything you didn´t kill is (almost) sure to kill you. blocks out ironman and tough as nails. also i think the most likely scenario is one pistol and one doubleshotgun.
name: desperado (lame but fitting with all the movie references that are all over the place) or painking (here comes the pain MF !!!)
*on AoSg investing in 3 traits that only help you once you aquire the fourth (SoG->SoG->DG) could proof to be difficult. and on a normal game you´d pretty much also have some issues, you´d play a dualgunner route without an adv. pistol and no defensive traits available.
so, let me know what you think, i really thought this through and all the fanboyism aside i think this would be a balanced and awesome addition to the game ! please make it happen Kornel !!!

ok, my first shotgun run ever, turned out quite nice. i only ever (when i first found them of course) used shotguns untill i reached cybie. the last levels where kinda rough so is had only 2-3 healthpacks left and decided to try my luck with the BFG9000 i had saved for this event. i managed to hit him 5 times but it wasn´t enough -___-, luckily i could arm the A-bomb before getting slaughtered hehehe !now gimme that sweet 9.9 so i can do it on angel of shotgunnery ^^

well, finally a unique pistol for me. used it on semi-auto for a few levels but i realised that it drained my ammo too fast (while not compensating for it dmg-wise) so i switched to single shot. i planned on going back to semi-auto afte getting EE but somehow forgot to, lol. the reason why i didn´t enjoy this as much as my first win is the reloading time of the GCB. usually i have 2-3 reload mods on my guns in the lategame, so i had to adjust to this quite a bit.
my fight with cybie was a joke because there where a invul. and a supercharge right next to the stairs to him...if i only had that thermobomb >_<
