Title: Config.lua options
Post by: Tormuse on May 05, 2012, 20:52
Can we bring back the option to set "InvMenuStyle" in the config.lua file please?  I got spoiled by the ability to set it to "CHOICE" in 0.9.9.5 and I really miss it.  I just lost a very promising game, in part, because I wasted my only phase device because I accidentally pushed I and O at the same time.  :(

the ability to set it to "CHOICE"

I have no idea what this does, but it sounds good; I wasted many a medpack for the same reasons.

While you're at it, please make SkipIntro also skip the text that appears after each chapter, or add SkipIntermission / SkipEnding.
Or tell me what I'm doing wrong, works for me too.

In the previous version, there was a line that says "InvMenuStyle =" and you can set it to "CHOICE", (so you can select items with arrow keys and enter) "LETTER", (so you can select items by pushing the corresponding letter key) or "HYBRID".  (you can do both)  The default is HYBRID.  I prefer having it set to CHOICE.

And yes, before I discovered this option, I accidentally wasted many, many med-packs.  :|

Seconded. I was actually thinking about starting a thread like this soon myself.

Hmm... another solution be to add a small 'dead time' after opening the inventory so that any button presses that happen immediately afterwards would just be ignored.

That should solve the problem of accidentally pressing multiple buttons but would still allow the inventory be used with letters.

Yes, I've also wasted medikits in this fashion. Always wondered if there could be a confirmation or a prevention of accidental button presses.

I mean, I set the config to remind me my ammo is empty since I can hammer 'f' sometimes.

Found this one 2 days ago and it's already saved my skin on more than one occassion :)

Yeah, the missing options should be re-added.

And since we're on the subject, you can check out the config.lua wiki page (http://doom.chaosforge.org/wiki/Manual:config.lua) for (slightly more) detailed descriptions on the config options available (or formerly available).

May be request feature about y/n confirmation when using Medkits and having health 100% or above?

I'd like to see an option that turns off Mouse controls/mouse support. I unfortunately don't have a desktop at the moment, and I use a laptop. My thumbs hit the touchpad under the space bar a lot and sometimes undesirable things happen with the mouse controls as a result.

I know I could disable the touchpad itself on the laptop, but I kinda need that for internet et al, especially when I play in Windowed mode!

Also, somewhat of a vanity option as opposed to practical, when setting the config to pick from Random names for your character, I'd like to actually be able to edit the list of random names, so I could just put a good ten or twelve names I like in there and have it randomly pull from those instead of the presets.

Those two should definitively be available.
