BOO-YAH! Two diamond badges in one game! :D :D :D (And all 5 Shottyman badges at once!) :)
It wouldn't have been possible if not for those former human complexes, which helped me replenish my shotgun shells and pad my kill count. (and were quite noisy when I fired my double shotgun into their midst causing maybe twenty former humans to die at a time; muahahahaha!) :) I didn't have enough shells to confidently take on the Lava Pits, but fortunately, there was an invulnerability next to the stairs on level 23 and I started next to the stairs on level 24, so I was able to go for the full win, which was a pleasant surprise. :)
I didn't actually set out to get any diamond badges; I only intended to test out new features of the new version, namely the "Shottyhead" Master trait. It's pretty powerful if you have enough ammo for it, (which I did, thanks to the above-mentioned complexes) :) but it takes a long time to kill the tougher enemies since you can't get SOB trait.
I probably wouldn't have tried entering the Mortuary if not for the fact that there was an invulnerability sphere next to the entrance. Even after it wore off, though, I was able to hold my own pretty well with 0.21 seconds per shot and 0.38 seconds per reload with my tactical shotgun, which allowed me to keep encroaching mancubi, arachnotrons, and barons at arms' length, but I was burning through shotgun shells so quickly that I had to make a break for it after all.

I wouldn't say that the Diamond Hunters is a "competition" so much as it is a recognition. The most prominent (and unofficially-called) Diamond Hunters prior to me making that sticky tended to keep track of who got what diamonds anyway: this makes it a lot easier to do and gives people a bit of extra reason to try for as many as they can.
Still though, I was NOT expecting a Shottyman Diamond this early. Guess the AI didn't faze you all that much. (Shottyhead might be too strong though, I was able to playtest everything as much as I had wanted before release.) In any case, a job well done on the first double-diamond for this version!

Indeed, I believe you have an HMP YAAM sitting that qualifies quite nicely for it.

I didn't particularly notice AI changes. The biggest things that stand out in my memory as different were that berserk packs don't seem to protect me as much as they used to (almost died a couple times because of that) and mancubi seem more troublesome than usual. (Though that might be because I was wearing phaseshift boots which caused them to throw me around like a rag doll) :)
I was skeptical about Shottyhead at first because it blocks SOB; seems like a sure way to run out of ammo in hell. I was only able to function by hoarding all supplies of shells I could find because I was using hundreds of them on each level. Still, being able to fire off four shots faster than anyone could react, knocking them out of visual range meant that no one could touch me. At one point, in the Mortuary, I was completely surrounded on all sides, knocking back anyone who dared come within sight of me, straining to listen for sounds of Arch-Viles getting hurt so that I knew I was making progress. Intuition 2 was a big help with that and made the UAC gold star easy to get.
Indeed, I believe you have an HMP YAAM sitting that qualifies quite nicely for it.
Ooh! How do I enter it in the competition? Should I rename the thread? Or should I create a new one with the "Compo" title in it?
EDIT: Never mind, I just changed the thread title and entered it in the competition thread. :)
