So yeah, shotguns are awesome. And nanofiber armor. This was the game immediately after my last game, the mortem of which I posted here (almost killed her with a gatling gun, but I didn't have enough resources). This time, I had more than enough, but I didn't need any of it. I just ended up running with Shottyman (and MAD) blasting with my SSH (decided to visit Hell's Armory, just for some loot). I started branching out into other traits as well, Badass (started the fight at 200% health), SoB and TaN probably helped a bit too. I'm pretty elated, really, but this is probably just the first of many triumphs to come. I believe I started playing DOOMRL back in late 2010/early 2011, FYI, on and off.
And yes, I did name him Eustace Bagg.

Name probably made all the difference there, psychologically speaking. Congrats :)

Congratulations. You certainly did pick quite an easy challenge to start Angels with, but that doesn't diminish your victory in any way.
But why did you slap a bulk mod on that super shotgun? It has absolutely no effect, as you probably know now.
For SSH, power mod to get an extra dice (for (9d4x2)) or a tech mod to reduce firing time are the way to go - but bulk and agility are useless here.
-
Nice one.
Tactical shotgun and super shotgun though and a MAD build to boot, actually guarantee an easy mode city of skulls. How come you didn't enter there. It's super easy for shotgunners.
Then again optional levels are optional. I guess not all of us like to lose time entering them.

I thought bulk mods reduce reload time for single shot weapons...

I guess a power mod would have been better, but I figured that a bulk mod would reduce reloading time as I strafe. Yeah, I'm not going to put bulk mods on single-shot guns I can reload by moving anymore. I might try AoMr next.
@Radagast: I guess I could, but I already cleared the level before and found a missile launcher(which I couldn't have used). I figured I wouldn't risk it anyway; I DID fin a unique in a regular level (that I couldn't use either). I picked it up to get it registered as a find anyway.
@LuckyDee: Eustace (Bagge, I now know) is one ass-kicking son of a bee.

Oh, and...if someone creates an image of Eustace Bagg holding a super shotgun and standing atop a pile of monster corpses in Hell, I will be forever beholden to them.
-
Super shotguns are not single shot weapons are they? Don't they fire two shots like a double shotty?

Could be. I always read "single shot" as "not rapid fire". It would make sense for bulk mods to work this way on all shotguns and I have bulk modded my double shotguns in the past, though I have no idea if it did something. Thinking that it did was enough for me =P

I wouldn't be surprised to find it happens in one of the episodes, but it's been ages since I've seen that show.

And now a new idea for a fanfiction is born. DOOM: Hell in Nowhere.

I just tested it with a double shotgun and B-modding it lowers reload time from 2.0 to 1.5, so it should work for the super version as well.
-
Yeah, Double Shotguns and Super Shotguns are considered "single shot" weapons for purposes of the Bulk mods because they fire their two ammo simultaneously as one shot, so the Bulk mod improves their reload time.

And when you have Shottyman and move to reload, that gives enemies less time to react, especially if you can move fast, right? I might continue bulk-modding them after all.
-
Well, if you already have Shottyman, I would think it's better to use a Power mod. Since you already reload quickly, more damage might be more useful. EDIT: Or maybe a tech mod so you can both fire and reload quickly! :)

That's what I thought afterwards too. Oh well, at least I won (this frigging game).
