So this means that I was able to confirm that, once that red junk is out of the way, the Apostle is indeed yellow in colour!  :D

I thought text mode didn't have color filters, so wouldn't you have seen a yellow @ even while berserk anyway?  I was kinda hoping to see him in graphics mode.

Icy does have one mortem that met the medal condition, yet no such medal was awarded.  Guess it was dummied out.

Maybe we can finally see the Apostle's real colors without the red filter.

Congrats!  The Apostle sure was a whole lot of nothing, wasn't he? :P

Just wanna reply to a couple of things.  It is annoying that the berserk effect's red filter makes Intuition's purple X's blend in with the black, but you can still use the minimap to see Intuition's marks.  Or just play in console mode, all ASCII and no color filters.

And also with the sole exception of the Backpack (advice: Do not try to pick it up while barons are around.), unique items are almost indestructible.  They can survive any explosion (even nukes), dropping them in acid and lava that would destroy other items does nothing to them, and unique armors and probably boots as well continue to survive even at 0% durability.  The only way to truly destroy them is to gib a former human or hell noble that's picked them up, so it's really only applicable to unique armors... I think.  Do they also pick up the staffs and Hellwave pack?

Anyway, that's it and congrats again.  I'm still wondering how to do my next Ao666 run, it'll probably be on Nightmare and will just be a mad dash to the end with hopefully the Dragonslayer.  Assuming I can survive that long.

While it's true that the Berserker Armor slows you down a lot, you can still get your movement speed down to 0.25 seconds with Hellrunner 3, antigrav phaseshift boots (A), and the permanent berserk effect from the Dragonslayer; and even a little bit faster than that as a scout.

Regardless, good luck with the Apostle.  And remember not to wear any armor you won't be able to remove other than the Berserker Armor.

Also the lava element.  The only way to get a full win in AoI is to nuke using a nuclear plasma rifle/nuclear BFG and pray for an invul sphere right before Dis.

Here's something interesting that I discovered when I did a couple of AoI runs with a technician in an attempt to get the Lava Silver badge.  Mod packs apparently also count as consumables so on AoI, you can't pick up them up and must use them from the ground.  But if you scavenge mod packs from guns, they actually stay in your inventory like in a normal run; I didn't try dropping them, but I assume that you can't pick them up again afterwards.  So you could use mod packs on, say, pistols and then scavenge them out later when you need them.

Despite that though, I actually failed to create any cerberus boots in time for the Lava Pits/Mt. Erebus because the right types of mod packs didn't show up.  I only got Lava Silver because the game pitied me with the Enviroboots just as I was losing hope on the second run.

What does the Apostle actually look like, as in what color would he be if you could somehow see it without the berserk effect's red filter?

Is playing on N! the only way to get the Experience Cross in Ao100?  I've read some U Ao100 mortems and they all seem to always fall short by one level even with 100% kills.

That run was long over, but I still need to mention something regarding cybernano armor and the Dragonslayer: You can't take off cybernano armor once you wear it.  I mean it's a moot point now since you didn't find the Dragonslayer, but it's something to keep in mind for next time.

you can't set a fresh nuke when one is already counting down

I found this out during one of my Ao666 runs, I tried to use a nuke when the dlevel already started with one and the game just yelled at me if I was crazy and prevented my nuke from being used.  I wonder if an active nuke would also prevent the Trigun's nuclear option from being used.

It annoys me that nightmare enemies are completely silent, because it allows them to sneak up on you.  I wanna change their sounds, as well as those of the elite former humans and agony elemental, into sounds from PSX Doom/Doom 64 so I gotta ask: What are their internal names as printed in the .lua files?

I've done a couple of Ao666 runs, both times as a Technician with Scavenger.  Here's my first one from earlier in the month:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This probably should've been my first post in this forum, back when the run was still fresh in my mind.  Now it's just a vague memory, but I'll still try to mention the highlights anyway.  Early on, I was pulling levers and nuking levels; and then I found out that the Gambler's Shield and Fallout medals can't be gotten in Ao100/666 runs so I stopped doing that.  I also assembled plenty of godly guns, not just to lord them over my enemies but also to fill out my assembly list; after this run, only the nanofiber skin armor and cybernano armor were missing which I would eventually fill out in later games.  And of course, the highlight was dungeon level 212 where I got the Dragonslayer and then the Berserker Armor in dlevel 255; everything changed and even without any Brute, I was slaughtering enemies with ease.  When I could easily reach them anyway; with my slow speed and lack of antigrav boots (I forgot if I either never found another N-mod or phaseshift boots, or I just forgot or didn't bother to make them), there were a few times where I nearly died because while everything will eventually do only 1 damage, chaingunners and arachnotrons can still shoot multiple times.  Also the enemies became very numerous the deeper I got and I can't exactly use my BiggestFG anymore (yet I still held on to it and all my other guns anyway, because I guess I wanted trophies from my pre-Dragonslayer days), so it's very possible to get overwhelmed if I just charged in blindly.  But eventually, I made it to dlevel 666 where everything suddenly died and it was just me and the super archvile known as the Apostle.  Well, and the nightmare demons that keep spawning as well as any monster that the Apostle resurrects.  The final battle wasn't really too difficult; the Berserker Armor plus the resistances from the berserk effect made the Apostle's attack not do that much damage, and the Dragonslayer took him down in 4 hits.  I was first scared that the error message invalidated the entire run, but fortunately the game proceeded as normal and earned me not just my first Ao666 win but also my first Apostle Insignia.

Having learned how much of a grind Ao666 is, it wouldn't be until a few days ago that I'd start the second one:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This time, this was done with the explicit interest of filling out my list of acquired exotics and uniques; and also to play around with some overpowered assemblies that you might not get in a standard game, at least not without some luck.  For example, I found a blaster early on which I would mod into a storm bolter; it was like a miniature nuclear plasma rifle, and then I found the real thing and proceeded to make it a burst cannon nuclear plasma rifle that quickly replaced my storm bolter blaster.

I also found Malek's Armor early, and this time unlike the previous Ao666 run I also eventually found Nyarlaptotep's Boots.  I was already rocking a phaseshift set with A-mods, but the Inquisitor set still saw some use like when I found myself in a cave full of lava elementals.

Hoping for another Dragonslayer (I mean I do have 666 dlevels to find it), I grabbed some Brute this time and at least put it to some use with the Butcher's Cleaver and then later a ripper.  It just feels good to quickly fly around the maps with my shotgun of infinite ammo plus cleaver/chainsaw of death on the side, and I have the BiggestFG for emergencies.  Even so, it still got more grindy the deeper I got; I mean there are just so many enemies and I already maxed out my exp level way back around dlevel 150 or so.  After making all the assemblies that I wanted, I just stairdived while stopping only for uniques.

Speaking of uniques, the Berserker Armor showed up at dlevel 228; however the Dragonslayer was a no show.  After the Railgun on dlevel 441, the uniques just stopped showing up and I started to fear the worst.  I had an energy-shielded vest ready to cybernanofy on dlevel 666 just in case it never showed up, but finally at dlevel 630 the Dragonslayer appeared once again.  And 36 dlevels later, I got my second Apostle kill and Insignia.

On my second encounter with the Apostle, I learned two things: First, nukes will not work; nothing happens and the nuke simply disappears, so no nuking actually happens despite the mortem message to the contrary.  Also, the exit stairs disappear; the only way out is to kill the Apostle, and homing phase devices will just teleport you randomly.  Fortunately, I managed to teleport myself near where the Apostle was and proceeded to hack him to death; he's still no big deal.

And with that, I currently stand at 630 specials acquired; I'm also only one Subtle Knife, Anti-Freak Jackal, and Dragonslayer each away from Technician Diamond.  I'm wondering what to do with my next Ao666 run if I ever decide to do it again; maybe I'll just do it on Nightmare for the Angelic badge, but I've seen someone else's graveyard of a completed N! Ao666 run and wow that is a ton of enemies to get through.  I'm not sure I can pull it off even if the Dragonslayer shows up, and I'm also wondering if I should even bother with the Apostle or ignore the Berserker Armor because slowing down might just get me killed.  Hell, I'm wondering if I can even make it past the first 25 dlevels.

Hi.  I like Doom, and I found out about this roguelike spinoff last month.  Here's my first mortem where I die horribly:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It took a few more games before I found out that Hurt Me Plenty was actually the hard difficulty instead of the medium that it was in Doom.  Eventually, I scored my first victory:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And I've been playing this game ever since.  Here's my current progress:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Badge count is (26/26/17/3/1/0).  Missing golds are UAC Gold (that one UV win was actually Ao100), Veteran Gold, Strongman Gold, Marksman Gold, Shottyman Gold, Inquisitor Gold, Quartermaster Gold, Masochist Gold, and Everyman Gold.  Completed platinums are Technician Platinum, Centurial Platinum, and Scavenger Platinum; and my one diamond is Technician Diamond.  I'll probably be doing UV runs next to get the rest of the golds as well as move up from HMP.

So yeah, great game, great roguelike, and I hope Jupiter Hell also turns out great.
