I just had the same issue, Level 2 AoB cross-fire causing a barrel chain reaction, my death, and a crash. Only error that showed up on screen (over everything else) as follows:

You aren't alone in your opinion RickVoid. It was something I liked about Diablo 1 too. For me I'd love to see a combination of Diablo 1/2. Like I'll go back and play Diablo 1 but miss the skill trees, classes, and items. Then I play Diablo 2 and I miss the graphics of Diablo 1 (yes, I just said I prefer the older graphics to the new 3dish graphics) and the (what seems to me) higher difficulty.
If it was set up as more of time warp for living characters and less of a save scumming feature, I think some people might like it. For example, death for your character means removal of his/her files (aside from mortems and scores), but as long as he/she is still alive, you can warp back and start at level 1 again.

I believe I pulled the shotgun sound from a modpack for AvP2...I could be wrong as it's been awhile. Couldn't pull the actual files from the game though as then it wouldn't be free, and, well, we don't want someone to bring the axe down on AliensRL.
Granted, I'm still working on different sounds for each weapon so that each gun has it's own unique sound.

Off Topic / I'm still alive

Well things have gotten crazy since helping Kornel with the 7Day RL. First was the move, then all the joys of getting a house in suitable conditions to be called a home rather than a house.
Second was I've finally started school. Had a programming project the first week. Granted it was incredibly easy. However this week's assignment is trickier for a relative beginner, but still doable.
Just wanted to let Kornel and everyone else know I'm still about, just don't have near as much time as I'd like to anymore. But in three years I'll have my degree and will be working in the gaming field, even if it's just homebrew. :)

As for releasing it to the public, I'll probably only release it here and the other board I hang out at as long as it doesn't get released elsewhere (hey, I need something for my portfolio, and if it's all over the net what company is gonna believe me?). Just got done with the phone interview with Westwood University for a bachelor's degree in Game Programming and Design. Just need to talk the info over with my mom for the application fee and hopefully I'll be applied by tomorrow evening and starting my classes near the end of march. So if everything goes well I'll be graduated and working in the gaming industry in three years. Wish me luck everyone. :D

Thank you for taking the negative reviews on other sites with a grain of salt and continuing to work on this project. It's a very fun game and I look forward to more releases on it as I do with the other Chaosforge games. I'm downloading it now, will give my impressions on Candidates 1-3 come tomorrow when I have more time to give them a try. While fun, my experience with the 7DRL version of Berserk! didn't go very well, and haven't tried it since, been too busy with DoomRL. Anyways, while some may not like the Chaosforge games, I for one will continue to support them and as soon as I get a new job WILL in fact be donating, as unlike other designers/companies, you seem to make the games you want to play, which is the same thing I plan on doing once I start getting training on coding. Anyways, went too far off topic, will have a more on topic post tomorrow after I try out C3.
EDIT: In fact, should I be given the option of what I create for my first exam, my first project will be a Warhammer 40k/Space Hulk RL. Wish me luck all, and some of you (such as Adral) should expect some pvt messages asking about any fluff or backstory I may be missing. :)
