I added some possibilities to the Lua API, and a feature came to my mind -- what if some of the reward items for special levels would be randomized? Sure, that the most important ones would stay the same (guaranteed LS/AA/BFG's/Supercharges) but some of them could be randomized, in a few places even with a higher chance of being a Unique... What do you think?
On a side note -- would some special levels benefit from adding a few random monsters too?
-
As a feature it would be welcome - I'm sure modders will make use of this. As for randomizing levels that are in game already... eh, not sure. Maby Hell's Armory could benefit from that, but other levels seem fine as they are.
-
I definitively think they should have some more randomness. After all, part of what makes this interesting is how things are never the same... but those level are.
As long as they keep the key element.

Special levels would be a good place for the suggested unique monsters (which in turn could have randomized 'good' drops).

I like this idea.

Maybe, though there should be such in normal levels too, rarely, but there still should. Making everything special level exclusive would get rather annoying, wouldn't it?

I like this idea. Maybe add another special level in which the reward is always randomly generated but in the same spot.

I think it could make unique levels a bit more interesting.
When I run through Chained Court or Hanger for the xth time, I get a bit borred.

...and random monster too. Imagine The Wall with mancubus :-)

I second that too.

I like the idea. Wait, what's this about unique monsters? Would be like, random unique monsters? Because occasionally running into a "Sharpshooting <foo>" or an "Athletic <foo>" or a "Insane <foo> on Fire, Holding Dynamite" or something, would be kinda neat.
