Is it possible that some day I could use the cursor keys for diagonal movement?  My laptop doesn't have a number pad and I don't always enjoy using the trackpad.  Pressing Up and Right together would move me diagonally, well, up and to the right et cetera...

Modding / Can't Connect to the Mod Server...
« on: May 01, 2014, 13:16 »
Hi.  I've been away for a while and thought I'd have a quick blast of some custom games.  Sadly, the mod server seems to be down from within the game.  Perhaps I'm missing something as I've never used this feature before...  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks! :)

When the album is finally finished you should definitely sell it as a CD old skool stylee. :)

Seriously though, I would definitely buy a copy if it had nice artwork.

Great idea.  I can use all the help I can get!  Thank you. :)

Modding / Re: The "Basic Doom" Module

I've played a little with the older builds and have found it really difficult.  That's partly because I'm generally rubbish at DoomRL anyway but mostly because I tend to rely on the shotty.  I presumed that that would be the weapon of choice as it is in the original Doom but now I realise you have to use a mix of weapons to get the best out of it.

I'm looking forward to trying out the new build and will play around later. :)

Ooh.  This sounds interesting.  Will give it a try right now. :)

Discussion / Start GFX Version with Grid On?
« on: March 14, 2012, 10:06 »
Is there a way to start the graphics version of the game with the grid on?  Every time I start I have to hit the space bar.  I know it's not a big deal to do that but it is a little tedious. :)

I've looked through the config Lua script but didn't see a default option.  Am I overlooking something obvious (it wouldn't surprise me!)?

I thought I'd throw in my inconsequential opinion and say your tracks are great!  Doom with a twist - quite fitting for a game like DoomRL.

I use you tracks along with the PSX soundtrack.  It makes the levels with your songs all the more exciting as they juxtapose with the ambient works of Aubrey Hodges really well.

Can't wait for the full album... :)

Discussion / Request: DoomRL Title Screen Art
« on: March 13, 2012, 05:38 »
I love the new DoomRL title screen.  It's a really nice interpretation of the original art and it suits the RL well.

I would really like to use it as a wallpaper on my netbook.  Does anyone have access to the picture without any text on it?  Would anyone mind sharing it if they do?

Thanks for any help. :)

The more stats, the better as far as I'm concerned.  The obit is your last character's entire 'life' and I enjoy looking back and seeing where I went wrong and where I excelled.  Gimme more numbers!

Yeah, I got it working last night.  I just renamed the corresponding PSX mp3's to match the extant Lua file.  I must say I love the atmosphere of these tracks.  They really compliment the slower, creepier pace of the turn-based gameplay.

I'm very happy now. Thanks for the replies. :)

Discussion / Re: Where do you guys play DoomRL?
« on: March 12, 2012, 14:14 »
I play on my netbook pretty much anywhere when I feel the urge.  It's the perfect game when travelling on the bus or train as I can take my eyes off the screen at any time  as well as play one-handed... allowing me to eat and drink at the same time. :)

Thanks for your reply.  I'm a complete noob with these sorts of things so I didn't just want to dive in and start editing scripts.

I'm going to edit them later today I think.

Would anyone else be interested in my edited scripts and soundtracks?  Would I be able to provide links or is linking to soundtracks frowned upon? :)
