What? He's dead silent in my game...

He's also silent for me.

How do you outrun it, given that it has 150% speed? You get 2xHR and Agi on boots already, or rely on run/zerk?

Amazing! I think you are the only one here to achieve this feat, are you?

Thanks everyone. This one got left behind: how long does it take to cycle a Combat Shotgun's shell? That is, not reloading a shell - just pumping the next one by pressing "r" standing in place after firing.

Oh yes, they stack.

Same with invuln and all that jazz. (light amp etc.)

So basically, the best way of clearing the Chained Court on UV would be to kill the Barons safely, kill as many little guys safely, then pick up ALL berserk packs and rocket jump to the Arena Master to kill him with as much berserker duration as possible, to make sure that it won't expire while you are fighting him?

Multiple Berserk packs will stack in duration? If I take both those in the Chained Court, will they last twice?
If I take the chainsaw AND the two packs, will they last like three packs?

How long does it take to cycle a Combat Shotgun? That is, not reloading a shell - just pumping the next shell by pressing "r" in place.

After.

Ok, this is probably the single most overpowered thing about armors then. My Iron Man 2 tech had:

Bullet     - 50%
Melee      - 75%
Shrapnel   - 50%
Acid       - 70%
Fire       - 95%
Plasma     - 50%

...and anything that got past this, would see whatever damage left reduced by another 2 points. No wonder I was pretty much immortal and laughed in the face of the only Cyberdemon I met!

Oh and since I'm here, I have a last question: my Onyx Cerberus Armor was P-modded ([2]). Is this damage reduction calculated before or after the damage resistances?

Just finished the Ao100 - stopped savescumming around 50 after I assembled my Onyx Cerberus Armor, and did the last 30 levels only with Bulky Piercing Knives, meleeing the shit out of absolutely everything (occasionally switching to Hyperblaster for a Cave of Nightmare Arachnotron). Who needs guns? Guns are for wusses!

After achieving the right setup, the game was essentially over.

Any combination of armor/skills that gives you 75%+ melee resistance. Shielded Armor or Malicious Blades master trait, particularly.

Discussion / Questions about modding equipment
« on: March 26, 2012, 03:32 »
Hi there,

I am recently playing Ao100 with a Technician and now that I can really go wild with modding stuff, I have a few questions.

1) What are the limits of applying upgrades? Whizkid L2, in theory, allows up to 5 mods on weapons and 3 on armors. Correct? But there must be some other limits because, for example, I found out that I cannot slap 2 power mods on the same armor. Then again, after applying PTA, I suddenly CAN add another one to make Cerberus Armor. What's the rationale here? If I don't want to make it, will I end up with a P2TA armor?

2) Modifying uniques. Which ones can be modified, and which cannot? The ones I can modify can only receive one upgrade, like the Assemblies, or I can do everything I want with them, even making Master Assemblies out of them? Is there a list somewhere?

3) Modding weapons. I am a Tech with Malicious Blades. So far the best weapon I found is a Piercing Combat knife further modified with Bulk - I end up with a 4d6 Piercing weapon, which kicks truckloads of ass (I have two). Can I do better than that?

Anyway with such a build it's all down to survive long enough to get the proper gear. Right now (I'm savescumming, don't have time to do it properly) I am sitting on Onyx Cerberous Armor (P), which together with Malicious Blades makes me pretty much unstoppable. Got the standard stuff - A-modded TTA Plasma, PTA Double Shotty, even a Combat Relocator for surgigal removal of Arch Viles - unless I do some really stupid stuff, nothing can kill me anymore now (I'm on level 60).

Pretty much what he said. With a T-modded shotty and 1-2 ranks in Reloader you should be fine. I cleared it at UV for the first time and had little trouble, even without the extra dent as a backup corner shoot gallery.
But yes, bring AT LEAST a good hundred of shells.

I recently played a shotty-oriented Tech build on UV, with positive outcome, and the main combat traits I choose were

Rel x 2
Fin x 3
Jug
HR x 2

So basically, rather than "kill them fast and don't get killed", I was more like "run behind a corner fast, then kill them". Worked like a charm for me.

Discussion / Re: Let's take on the Mortuary!
« on: March 19, 2012, 08:21 »
I never attempt the mortuary unless I have:

-BFG 9000 (modded with Bulk is better);
-at least one Skull;
-at least one Homing phase device;
-enough cells stack to fire enough times.

When I enter, as others suggested I start by firing two BFG shots left and right, AND using a skull - starting with the action that cost me less time (skull if I'm technician, BFG if I have Finesse, ecc.).
I then proceed to teleport to a stair, and start cleaning the level from there, using the BFG on any Arch Vile I see until everything stops moving.

It's good to have another Homing phase device as a backup, should everything start going pear-shaped.

Question: is there a way to gib a corpse on the ground without any monsters nearby, other than using skulls?

0.9.9.6 / [H|97%|YAFW] My first legit win!
« on: March 18, 2012, 16:28 »
For most of you this result is nothing special, but for me it was my first win without savescumming - I saved before the Mortuary as I usually do, but didn't need to reload. Perhaps next time I will save one more phase device and feel the Arch Vile pressure!
Also, the 97% is probably not 100% because I made the mistake of entering the Unholy Cathedral - which I promptly left, without melee weapons at hand.

What to say about the run... probably the biggest grin was finding the Jackhammer on Armory, level 10. For one moment there I hoped AmmoChain worked with it too - but never mind, it's already insane as it is with TriggerHappy lvl2. It's what saved my bacon in the Spider's Lair, more than the Plasma rifle.

This was also my first Ammochain run (I usually do shotguns, as most noobs do), and by Melkor, it really rocks, especially with the Hyperblaster - that thing hurts so much and fires so quickly (with Fin level 3), the poor SOBs didn't stand a chance! After realizing how powerful it is, I dropped all my rockets and Missile Launcher.

Hell Staff... got it and brought it down with me, never used it.

What should I try next? UV? Will I get a chance to find Dragonslayer at that skill, in a regular game?
