"Iron Skull" : Take 10000+ damage in one game (prohibited on Angel of 100/Archangel of 666)
The only way to get this is to take Vampyre trait and meet pain elementals and get hit by lost souls over and over again,...
and kill lost souls to recover yourself.
City of Skulls/Abyssal Plains are best, but pain elemental cave or normal pain elemental can be alternatives.
After taking 10000 damage, I was too sleepy and boring, and made silly mistake to run into two mancubi.
Anyway, another medal is gained. Yuck.

Question: Did you make any changes to the mortem before posting it?
-
I accidentally erased the score of this run.
I couldn't remember the original score so just wrote any number on the score

Can you copy the text from the original mortem file? It should be in your mortem folder.
Is there anything else you changed? The score isn't the only thing that looks... off.
-
i'm using phone now. After I go back home, i'll post it
-
when I try to get Iron Scull, I found that it is near impossible. Need a hours of game, dancing around pain elementals and still get more damage then recovered by Vampire. Count of lost souls was about 2000. Pain elementals - about 50. How you can gain 10000 dmg from only 376 lost souls (and survive)? O_O
edit: no, no 2000! I search for mortem in 0.9.9.6, but seems I delete them. But from that (http://forum.chaosforge.org/index.php/topic,6201.msg53799.html#msg53799) I think need about 4 or 5 000 lost souls or you cant restore enough hp. (or need unlimited medpacks)
-
Erm... I'll reserve comment about that until we hear from Papilio about the mortem.
-
OK, I'm really waiting for hearing from Papilio. There are at least two things terribly off in the mortem, and I'm not talking about the score here.
-
well, if substract from total kill count (7785) summ of listed kills, get approximately 7000 non described. If they are all lost souls - IMHO all right) about 6-7K souls - yes, normal quantity for that
-
That's not the worst offender. Check the killcount number of monsters supposedly not killed throughout the game and compare that with the number of monsters left on the map. See what's wrong?
-
I've lost the mortem file indeed.
But I don't want to be seen as a cheater, I made a Iron Skull run one more time now and edited the post to the new mortem.
I don't know why the kill count in the first mortem is that ridiculous.. maybe I've pasted that part from another wrong mortem? Geez.
-
Anyway, going back to the topic about getting "Iron SKull" itself,
If you get too bored of playing with pain elemental + lost souls,
when the damage count reaches 8000+, leave that stupid skulls and go mortuary.
It helps you a lot because killing resurrected baron of hells/arachnotrons/hell knights
recovers your health fast (whereas killing lost soul only give you just 1 HP)
and there are lot of healing tools like supercharge globes and medikits.
(get hit -> take globe/medikit -> get hit -> ...)
I got 1700 damage on the Mortuary and conserved a lot of time teasing lost souls.
-
I've lost the mortem file indeed.
I don't know why the kill count in the first mortem is that ridiculous.. maybe I've pasted that part from another wrong mortem? Geez.
So you stitch different parts of mortems together? Because the last I remembered, each mortem file is long, and it's far easier to just copy and paste wholesale with C-a C-c C-v than to look for specific sections to copy and paste.
No one is saying that you're cheating, yet. Everyone's just abiding by the principle that extraordinary claims need extraordinary proof. Iron Skull is an extraordinary claim, and the proof provided thus far is extraordinary, in a not-good way.
Side note 1: it took you 4 hours to get 10k+ damage earlier, and now you need half the time, because you farm in the Mortuary now, while eating nearly 6k lost souls. Fascinating!
Side note 2: Look, there's one easy way to shut all the naysayers up. Record it up and post it. I mean, everyone finds is exceedingly hard to get Iron Skull, yet you have shown consistence in getting it at least twice in the last 24 hours. Surely you can repeat a third time and document it properly to unsully the insinuations to your reputation?
Side note 3: There is another easy way to shut all the naysayers up. But it requires admitting to cheating, which you didn't do, right?
-
Do Iron Skull again to record it? Uugh. I can't repeat this boring job three times to do that.
And smashing 6000 lost souls does not consume that much time as you expect.
Actually "killing 6000 lost souls", just itself, took under 100 min, as I used two pain elemental this time to speed up.
Anyway then, from now on, I'll record some plays of getting remaining Diamonds/Medals as youtube play videos.
-

OK, let me get this straight.
You're saying you killed about one lost soul per second for over one and half hours in real time with no break whatsoever?
I'm really looking forward to see those Diamonds recordings you promised.
-
Erm... Well, I've never recorded anything either, so I probably shouldn't say anything, but I will anyway... :P
don't know why the kill count in the first mortem is that ridiculous.. maybe I've pasted that part from another wrong mortem? Geez.
I'm confused about why you would be pasting parts from different mortems in the first place. :| I'm not accusing you of anything, but if you don't want people to think you're cheating, then I suggest you stop doing that and just paste the one mortem from the game you just played without any changes whatsoever.
I've lost the mortem file indeed.
This also confuses me. The game saves the mortems automatically and you should have all of them together in your mortem folder. (Personally, I have every single mortem from every game I've ever played for the last four years, all the way back to version 0.9.9.1) All you have to do is do a search for all files containing the phrase "Iron Skull." It should be a short list. :)

Killing one lost soul per second for over one is not anything special or extraordinary.
Video link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtDbCOhvvsM
(How can I post videos directly here? Youtube source codes seems don't work.)
You can see here killing 210 lost souls in 170 seconds.
If you do this job for a long time like 1.5 hours, then you'll get speed down (to rest for seconds or to have a break, whatever)
But it's not ridiculous to say kill 6000 lost souls under 6000 seconds. I'm tired of doing this again..
-
Nice video! :) What program did you use to record it? I've been wanting to do recordings of my own games for a while, but the programs I tried using gave me trouble.

I use OCam now (a Korean video recording program), it is totally free and program supports English version (but website does not)

Looks great, even plausible if you can get vampyre in time, but that still doesn't explain the Frankenmortem(TM)
-
Lol. This kinda makes me wonder how many people in the past have counterfeited their extraordinary mortems.
To sneak in a feature idea: how about having the game add a little fingerprint string that is generated from the mortem data in some secret format. That way we could have Our Overlords check the legitimacy of mortems, if necessary.

I think in a past 2Dev thread Our Lord and Saviour Kornel stated his mortem was genuine by calculating the score given details from the mortem- i assume this acts somewhat as that feature as nobody who is the devteam (afaik) knows how the numerical score is calculated.

Cool, I played around with OCam last night and it seems to work pretty well. I'll see about putting together a recording a little later on. I was thinking of going for Elite Platinum for my first recording.

I'm going to have to check it out as well, maybe get some tips on improving my game.

OK, you proved yourself in this point - here's my sincere apology.
But please, don't stitch your mortems like that anymore. It does put a dent in your credibility.
