Title: Your roguelike reccomendations
Post by: Juice on March 10, 2014, 12:01
Hi guys. I'm currently looking for some new graphical roguelikes  (i'm waaay too bad with ascii) and I'd like to hear your suggestions :)

So far, I have spent countless hours on DoomRL, Nethack (Falcons Eye), FTL, Sword of The Stars - The Pit, Desktop Dungeons, Dungeons of Dredmor and Tales of Maj'Eyal 4. I also tried a bit of Elona and Project Zomboid, but didn't really stick with them since I didn't like the interface of the former and raged over the bugs in latter...

I would love to try on Dwarf Fortress or ADOM, but I didn't find any suitable tiles version of either (I know, I'm picky :) so until Jupiter Hell is released, I'm eager to hear your tips on any interesting roguelikes you know of :)

Have you tried Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead? I've been playing it quite a bit recently, it's got tiles (although admittedly i prefer the ASCII), and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a roguelike or a survival-style game.

ADOM already supports tiles in 1.2.0p20. Check here (http://www.ancardia.com/download.html). Then in game press Ctrl+M for tiles settings.
You may also want to check Dungeon Crawl here (http://crawl.develz.org/wordpress/). One of the best RLs I've ever tried.
