--------------------------------------------------------------

As I needed one more Gold and one more Platinum for Lt. Colonel, a quick look at the requirements told me I need a game like this to grab both at once.

I recently grew very fond of Sharpshooter - once they get rolling, they are nearly unstoppable. Sure enough, I died quite a number of times, be it from carelessness, exploring too quickly, miistyping, or just the RNG putting me in inescapable starting location. This run, however, RNG was standing well behind my back - no bad startups, plenty of both ammo and mods.

As I learned quickly that too wild exploring led to YASDs, I adopted a completely different approach - I just set my Wait parameter to 2000 and let those bastards come to me. This worked pretty well - weaker creatures died before having a chance to strike, stronger ones, like Knights and later Barons then required some careful positioning, before they fell as well. Later, as I was growing in speed, more activity became an option, since I could outrun and outshoot everything.

I didn't want to risk losing YAAM in Vaults, so I skipped Arena - I had the Gold from there from previous runs anyway.

CC was a breeze - two zerks for the right part, camp until everything else came for their deaths, two zerks for the Barons to the left and the last few buggers in the center, and one more to leave with 100% health. Easy as pie.

Military Base then was an absolute campingfest - I must have killed like 40 formers before moving from the starting spot. The elites are an insane XP gift, so Sharpshooter arrived right there.

With tactical armour and boots I was able to outrun the initial ambush at the Anomaly - but later I received some hits. Too bad - with some luck I could have ended this run with GK Diamond, but whatever.

Deimos Lab was another of those campfests. I simply waited for the initial wave of captions, commandos and cacos to come for me, before finally going in. That left mw only with a few revenants to deal with. Two Shamblers were quite powerful together, but I managed to separate them and kill one without the other interfering. This netted me the mods needed for antigrav boots, and at that point I was already faster than anything the game could throw at me at this point.

Halls of Carnage? Holy crap, the flood is really fast there on UV - with all my speeds I finished the level with lava only four or five tiles away from the stairs. I colud just wait till it floods the whole floor, as there are no fliers there, but instead I just killed them all. Also, this yielded mods to create something more powerful than the starting T-modded pistol. I kept the original though, and used it on weaker enemies, saving plasma for the stronger ones.

The rest of the run was easy and smooth. With movespeed 0.21s, firing speed 0.10s on both pistols and guaranteed knockback I could simply outrun and outshoot everything, never alowwing any monster to at all in my LOS - I simply knocked them out of it. Nuke plus lava element picked at Mt. Erebus allowed me to go for a full win. Strangely, JC didn't summon any single minion - not that they would be any threat anyway. And so I ended with two Platinums instead of just one.

Well, now, knowing something more about UV, I'll probably go for UV Ao100 to do some Archvile-hunting :).

Nice run! I find it good, when I don't want to challenge the arena master, to enter the arena and simply say no after the second wave. You still get 100% kills, but you can grab the extra XP from the first two arena waves (plus the paltry rewards the arena offers).

Hmm, I don't quite follow the bit about risking YAAM at the Vaults... if you do Arena/CC, that's the only way to maintain YAAM on the vaults(short of lucky phases - Scythe wouldn't be an option on AoMr)

Are the Vaults dangerous enough on UV that you might have to leave early if you opened them with the staff?

If it's CC that's the problem, I find I strongly prefer the Arena Master version to the regular one - so much easier. Those lever rooms are all but guaranteed death to open, unless you know something I don't(which is likely, given my extreme dislike of special levels).

Anyway, good win - I've been looking at Veteran Platinum myself, but I'm not sure what the conditions are, specifically. I pulled off Destroyer Gold and Platinum without actually earning the required medals, simply the requirements for the medals, so I'm curious whether that works for Veteran Platinum, too. Since both conditions are, by the letter, at least, impossible to achieve on AoOC, I wonder if a JC kill will suffice, rather then an actual full win.

Well, for me the normal CC version is easier, just as I described it in the OP - zerking plus SoG3 + EE1 + T-mod on a pistol equals firing speed about 0.25s hitting nearly always, so the two barons on the right side are dead before doing much damage. Then just wait on the spot till all the formers come to you. You're fast enough to kill them all before they can act. Check your "@" screen - when there are only 6 enemies left, it's the two barons to the left and the four formers in the middle chambers. Take another zerk or two for the barons, kill them, wait for the four formers and you're safe and sound. And, most likely, with one zerk left for healing.

Vaults with eight Viles and eight revenants are quite tough, I believe, doubly so if you don't have any plasma gun.

Very nice. I love seeing AoMr YAAMs with the Sharpshooter build.
Revs are scary without an alternative weapon that deals non-bullet damage because revs resist that stuff. Bullet damage, that is.

Halls of Carnage is intense on anything higher than HNTR, in my opinion.
Also no comments on Mortuary/Limbo? :D

In my experience, Vaults are quite easy on a YAAM conqueror run - by the time you get to them you should have little trouble steam-rolling anything in your path. I still have second toughs about entering the mortuary on weapon-restricted challenges though.

Mortuary with no means of corpse disposal would be a suicide call - that's why I didn't enter it. However, Limbo, it's lots of lava, and my guaranteed knockback ... That would be a different matter.

I have found that AoMC+Cateye+nanomach plasma = damageless mortuary without corpse disposal.

But that is a bit of an edge case.

Sure this will work - but not on AoMr.
