I'm sorry if this is answered somewhere already, but my most recent post search gave me a post from 2006.
The only reasons I've been following this is for the Graphic version. I got tired of the game over time and never touched it again, not because it wasn't good, but ASCII style got on my nerve.
I'm amazed by now that there is no real graphics. There was a project before, the only forum I knew for that is unfortunately gone.
This is the only thing I'm waiting for, and I don't even know how long I've been waiting. I'm not trying to whine, I just want to know what happened to that... and if its still going to be done someday.

It will be done this year, I promise.
-
Just wondering, what will this Graphics Version entail? Simply tile replacements for ASCII characters, or something else?

Hey now, make DoomRL the best roguelike ever, keep those priorities straight man :)
tile replacements for ASCII characters
This will probably be it.
-
There was a pretty awesome tilesheet done a while back, does anyone still have a copy?
-
I barely have some frames of the entire awesomeness that was drawn already.
Thanks for the promise, Kornel, but be careful with them. Trust me that I won't forget it ;)
-
I just hope that there will be an option to choose if I want gfx or not (I prefer ASCII roguelikes).
-
Whenever Kornel is ready, I will be on hand to do the graphics!
And yes, they will be optional.
-
Do you still have that sample tilesheet? That was a really nifty bit of artwork and I'd like to see it again..

Here's a mock-up I did a very long time ago. :)

:-O
Very impressive!

Dang Derek! I didn't think I would ever enjoy a graphical roguelike but I think that your graphics would be a welcome addition. The only thing that could be better is if each sprite had a two-frame idle animation and firing/dying animations like in the Doom FPS.
-
Man those are some nice graphics. I was picturing something much much lamer. I mean, wow! If that had animation too... well I mean that starts going beyond rogulike doesnt it? More like an SNES RPG or something.
-
I remember that project, i think the general idea is that there will be both graphic and ASCII version available at the same time.
-
Oh my god, those graphics are near perfect. I want!
-
Hey, thanks, guys! I'm excited, too. :)
If you're feeling generous and want to support the v1.0 graphics release, considering sending Kornel a donation. Nothing motivates a man like being able to pay his rent. ;)
-
Wow.....I dont know what to say. That looks so amazing.
-
I hope to buy this as soon as possible at my local dealer!
-
Delicious sprites, I'd like them implemented so I can see the carnage better.

I'm sorry to bump but..
You promised!
I have been away for a long, long time. I'm sorry that I'm little to no support here either. But its still a promise, and I told you I would remember it!
And you know, the year is almost over...

Indeed. Talk about a hell of a dry season. Although, patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait, etc. etc. etc...
-
But what's exactly keeping the graphics version from being released?
- The code is not yet finished or
- There are no graphics yet?
-
I think the Kornel has much work about his real life and has no time to do any additional work on DoomRL. If that's the reason, don't push him too much =]

There might be missing graphics, but most of it was already done. Just browse the first page of this topic.

That is pretty cool
but is it just me or dose it seem just a little to bright for Doom
i'm not trying to Criticize or anything but it seems to me that DoomRL would be a little darker if you where to add Graphics
the Tiles just seem a little to Vibrant to me
but other than that it is Great!
