Hello all...

Wanna give a break to cyberdaemon chainsawing? Want to know the game that adds THAT RL into DoomRL??? This is your chance to do so, and earn fame and fortune! (Ok... may be not fortune :P)

A competition that goes back to the roots of the genre, back to the very same moment when the adventurer stood in the entrance of the dungeons of doom, seeking fame and fortune for his guild of Rogues. Yes gentlemen (and gentlegirls), I am talking about the game that started it all. Rogue.

Rogue was a game made in 1980, but don't be fooled... this doesn't means it is a simple, easy or uninteresting game. One may be led to think that all these years of enhancements made on further games would opaque the features of Rogue, well, this is not true.

Rogue's pushforward nature and the cruelty of the enemies makes up for a lot of fun and challenge, prepare for a lot of keyboard bashing and screen cursing, as your adventurer's armor melt again to rust monsters' breath, Vampires suck your HP away and wraiths level you down (yes, permanently).

After all, as you know, this is the game that spawned the genre.

Hehe Kornel, but you can make it so the RNG seed can be obtained and reused? thus the newly generated leves would be the same for everybody playing the same seed, no?

Well, thats just stupid. How i am supposed to know where the damn thing is ? I guess Kornel was waaaay too hasty, when he declared this as "playable".

Ellevators are in all floors, putting one of these in all towers would surely make exploration unneeded and take all the spice out of the game.

Hey Kornel,

Had a quick go at AliensRL yesternight, love the theme. The game is shaping up nicely ;)

Just had some minor comments:
* 4,5,6 for SideArm, Principal and Heavy seem more intuitive to me, I play on a dark room and these are easier to find without browsing the keyboard and mistyping (I know keys can be remapped, but some people won't do it, so this suggestion is for the default mapping :P)
* Appearance: The right status window I think is eating too much space, specially the health and ammo bars. Also, is the drawn frame needed? (The | and - frame )
* Gotta love the inventory-less one weapon in your hand gameplay
* Is displaying the damage intended?
* Blueprints are nice, but the ':' character can be confusing... maybe just '#' like normal walls would do?
* How do I close doors? or is it intended for them to be open-only?

That would be it for now ;)

Description: a member of the Wangamai sect, evil sages of darkness, vanquishers of all hopes for a better future. They are shaddy figures robbed in black and their heads covered. An aura of darkness surrounds them. Wangamai's words are true and can't be discussed, as their reasonings are beyond our understanding.

Strength: mediocre
Dexterity: mediocre
Speed: mediocre

Attack type: melee, but rarely uses it (has a serpentine dagger for emergencies)

Special abilities:
 1- just by glaring at the char, the char will lose half their berserk count randomly as it is discoraged from fighting
 2- if another Wangamai is adjacent, they can perform a frost shock

Played MUD's once or twice in my life....

... in resume, some instrinsic on me makes me feel any online gaming is time wasted :P Games are to be downloaded and played offline xD
