I apologize for any misunderstandings, and I will own up to the total jerkness. I did indeed have a point, and will say no more on the subject, other than (insert sop to the ego here) you obviously thought a lot about the challenge you posted, and it shines through as a unique idea by itself, if not exactly what that jackass Visalos would consider a canonical DoomRL challenge.

Gothic Boots aren't THAT slow; most unique armors have a movement bonus to offset the weight of your KICK ASS HELL BOOTS FORGED FROM PURE AWESOME IN THE PIT. an armor mobility mod will work, even. I put them on and never look back when i find them.

I'll throw some cash here pretty soon; i figure i owe you and biskup a few bucks each :P side note: Dwarf Fortress is epic, yes, but have you ever checked your system resources while the game is merely 'idling'? My Vista machine, box of rocks though it may be, can barely run the thing; CPU maxed out, 75k memory usage. I haven't tried it on this comp, but i expect similar atrociousness.

I also voted for doomrl and diablorl, because i haven't tried aliens or berserk!. i said it yesterday in another thread, and i'll say it again: DiabloRL is awesome, or it will be. Makes me want to get the demo again so i can extol its virtues in detail :P

Sometimes knockback is all that will save you, it's like a square or three of running like hell for free, if you don't count the cost of the barrel/plasma glob exploding in your face.

the hellish ranks aren't known for self-preservation. situation A: imp dies at the hands of Doomguy. imp is resurrected on-the-spot by V. situation B: imp is NOT resurrected but doesn't care because 1. he got a couple hits in on Doomguy, thus justifying his existence and/or 2. his existence is so horrifying and painful that death is a reprieve.
