Requests For Features / Re: Map memory

If it's a three-level trait, making it a basic trait would be better.

And computer maps would really screw with it.

Discussion / Re: An Idea of mine.... the BPD....
« on: January 22, 2009, 21:10 »
As much as I am all for... customized... weapons, I feel contractually obligated to point out a number of flaws in the design.

1) What is keeping the virus from atomizing the containment device by its very temperature? Plasmatter runs in the same
temperature range as the surface of the mignervjcking SUN! How the HELL do you contain that within semi-mundane METAL ALLOYS?

2) Okay, so finding some way of saying that the Arch-Viles made the weapon is an easy enough way to get around #1. There's still the problem of this being the equivalent to a mignervjcking thermonuclear device going off in your hands once the virus starts to multiply. Or did you miss the part about how plasma can cause the very air to ignite?

3) Even beyond that, this is still a weapon that you would only use once... making it a melee weapon allows it to be used on the one creature that is not meant to be killed with anything other than a knife/Butcher's Cleaver, chainsaw, or bare hands - thereby destroying the purpose of "Complete Angel of Berserk" advancement requirement by granting easy access to Loningus.

Requests For Features / Re: AoB improvement discussion
« on: January 22, 2009, 11:57 »
There are probably too many former sargents between the beginning and the chainsaw. Shotgun knockback does play a major role in the difficulty. Can't really think of any suitable replacements, though.

EDIT: I think the reason that we have AoB as a frequent requirement for higher levels is to learn how to deal with Shotgun, and how to choose battles wisely.

875
Wouldn't that be a little too helpful? Maybe it should just be left at "Something to tinker with." The most specific special item message I've seen was "You feel excited!"

876
Two things about that: One, when I cheat, I use the name "Cheater", so that should tell you very quickly.

Second - should I use the tag "YACM" - Yet Another Cheating Machine, or "YASP" - Yet Another Shitty Player for cheating mortems?

Thou hast messed with the creation of the Almighty Kisielewicz.
Thou shalt be banished to the burning Hell...
Don't we have to face it anyway?

Anyhow, AoI is kicking my ass now. And yeah, I screwed with the damage the bullets did for JC, the mortem was changed to represent from start to Cybie. Starting over from the beginning... again...

Before him 2 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
And 1 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.

Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 1 souls claim to have killed him...
1 killed the bastard and survived.

If I hadn'a gone on to Cormak, I'd be another Ass-kickin' marine. For that matter, I need to remember to READ THE FLOOR DESCRIPTIONS before going to special levels. Stupid wall...

Cheats used: Locked Ammo (3 in main weapon, 3 in sub-weapon)

Locking the ammo at 3/3 and focusing on a pistol sniper build allowed me to focus on collecting LHPs and HPDs... I got lucky with the thermie; it was me, a barrel, the thermie, and a trio of imps before I took cateye. One bad shot and no thermie for me. Although it might have been a blessing if I had had no thermie...

Requests For Features / Re: A tiny request

On the one hand, I would support such a feature.

On the other hand, movespamming in any roguelike will get you killed very quickly. I think DoomRL is the only roguelike out there where there is no single enemy that can kill you without making you run out of HP, but even then, movespamming is not adviseable until the floor indicator in the lower right is blue.
