I haven't played much DoomRL under the current version, and I'm not too familiar with the new layout.
I was running a few AoPc games trying to get those lower badges(I have gold from a previous version where that only required completing AoPc), and ran into some trouble at Babel.
Is there a way to run past the Cyberdemon, like with the Bruiser Brothers? Is there a staircase I didn't find? Or do you have to be lucky enough to find an invulnerability powerup on the previous level, like with the old full wins? I had to drop my nuke and settle for Bronze, and I'd like to do better next time.

There is indeed a staircase on the far end of the level...

Found it, got my AoPc Silver now.
Now... how am I going to get enough golds for captain... I'm so bad at this game =P

You're learning. Since you're still gaining new badges and ranks, you are definitely improving. Before you know it, you'll snatch your first diamond.

Build all basic assemblies (#1: Technician). Enter Babel with plenty of Invulnerability duration left (#2: Gatekeeper). Clear Unholy Cathedral (#3: Longinus). Complete Angel of Overconfidence (#4: Daredevil; I recommend cheesing it with a Dual Angel AoB/AoOC). Complete Angel of 100 (#5: Centurial). Clear the Vaults (#6: Scavenger).
Other viable targets are "Complete the Mortuary" (Reaper) and "Complete AoMC on HMP+ with the Untouchable Badge" (Destroyer).
I'm tempted to say it's harder to get the 15 silvers than the six golds.

Enter Babel with plenty of Invulnerability duration left (#2: Gatekeeper).
Alternately, do Babel as Fireangel; it's pretty easy to defeat the Cyberdemon without taking damage with that trait.

Assemblies. Getting Diamond from uniques means collecting three Berserker Armors.

Means three Dragonslayers, too.
Berserker Armor, at least anyone can pick up.
To be honest, I have the same progress on Armorer Gold as I do Technician Diamond(I'm one item from both). Armorer Diamond is a pill.
Also, hope you can pull off the reqs for Azrael's Scythe three times. :)

Been there. Just focus on the badges in your range first. Soon you'll be playing on UV and you'll have a chance to look at some of the diamonds.

Edit: On a related note... I was trying out some AoPc+AoOC to see if I could get my Pacifist Gold legit for 997(I have it from 996 when it was just complete AoPC), and I didn't start with a nuke? Is that intended?

I tried it, and got the surprise when I met MM -> loled and shift-Q :p

I doubt [insert some challenge here] +AoOc are really legit anyway. Technically, they are of course, but... well getting diamond in 5 minutes pseudo-N! games doesn't require much skill, especially as AoB.
