I'm always curious about what difficulties most folks play for DoomRL these days. Partly to satisfy my curiousity, and partly to get more feedback for Kornel, here's a simple vote.
This will run for 30 days, so start voting now. ^_^

Playing on UV.
It fits best for training.
I see HMP as normal and UV as hard.

N! as challenging difficulty and UV as relaxing.Something like that.Mostly N!.

It took me quite some time to get there b UV is my standard difficulty now... N! gets my ass kicked for now, though I remmeber playing HMP and thinking UV is impossible so I have faith that Ill move up sometime soon.

Still trying to get the hang of HMP... especially the startup is a real pain, since I get hit a lot and can only stand and watch as the formers use up the precious medkits. Maybe I should just not mind and press on anyway, but still...
Oh, and for some reason, every single time I try a melee game on HMP, the first thing I encounter on dlev2 is a bloody demon. No fun.

You gota run and slam a door in his face. But yeah, it's tough dealing with them. Lucky berserker packs are best way to go, but can't be relied on unfortunately.

HMP at present. I've been away from DoomRL for a while, but I intend to break into/through UV when I start again.

Gravitating between HNTR and UV, trying to be able to beat UV more reliably as I am now, where I can only beat it on AoMC and even then only rarely.

Whenever I still play I play N! since there's not really much that's fun to achieve on UV anymore (AoHu, Ao100 (can't bother), AoP.)

UV ao100 is just about the only thing i play on any more save for N! AoOC when I feel like getting my ass kicked.

I suck, so when I play I still go back and forth between HNTR and HMP.

Not anymore. :P
I don't play often enough anymore to achieve any sort of success on other difficulties.

Usually, when I get the feel of the game, I try to play everything on ultra -violence. I've got enough of my own nightmares, so I don't play on that difficulty

I play mostly on HTNR because most of the time I'm playing to get the remaining badges. As I still have a lot of Silver and Gold badges missing HNTR offers the best odds to get them.
If I happen to be playing just for fun then I may take HMP but UV is still too hard for me.

Almost the same here.
Though I treat UV as a standard/normal mode and everything lower as a easy mode.
It happens sometimes that I play every over difficulty. ITYTD-HNTR-HMP for testing / to reach certain badges. And I tried N! when I sought for more challenge (but I found boredom instead).
Oh, speaking about difficulties: sometimes N! is easier than UV (powerups, exp). This is pretty a design error, isn't it?
N! SHOULD BE harder than UV (and other difficulties) in EVERY aspect.
Seeing people like 2dev hack this game pretty often on N!, I do not see a reason for making life of such players easier.

I voted for HMP, as that's what I would usually test (read: IDDQD) on. I win fairly consistently on HNTR, but don't have the mad skills for UV or N! by a long shot.

A lot of people don't vote in polls. Or post regularly for that matter.
I like UV. Makes it nice and hard, but not gimmicky. I can win under UV, but it's certainly not assured. Actually, I can die with reasonable certainty on any difficulty level, but it really feels like it was my fault on UV. And wins are all the sweeter.
Now I've just got to learn to stay away from shotgun builds for a while. They're so handy early on, but it's a crutch......

I mostly play ITYTD, I've had a few good HNTR runs that went reasonably well (until I died) but I don't really have the time to get good.

I voted Hey Not Too Rough. I like Angel challenges, but I die too often on higher difficulties. I can play a standard game on Hurt me plenty, but no challenges pretty much.
I bet a LOT of people who dont vote play on I'm too young to die, so it looks like all difficulties are pretty awesome.
On N! should always be harder than UV, I don't think so. N! is supposed to be more crazy and brutal, but not necessarily harder.

I voted Hey, Not Too Rough because I've been playing this game for about a week. I've tried Ultra Violence and gotten my ass handed to me on the second level a few times, and Hurt Me Plenty is kind of an in-between. I'd like to beat the game first before moving on to the other difficulties.

HNTR for my vote, but I know that it's because I'm new and I still suck.
However, sometimes I honestly think I might do better off on HMP or UV because of the extra experience. Not changing my vote though!
