The main mummy benifit is they dont need food. They are ok fighters and good necros.

Discussion / Re: an idea!!
« on: October 04, 2007, 07:12 »
This idea is not new, infact zombie RLs are considered quite easy (ahem) since a few have been the topic of 7DRLs.
Z-Day  comes to mind. http://atos.wmid.amu.edu.pl/~sheep/projects/zday/ with the famous unbrella item.  OT Say isnt there a new movie about that?

Of course doomRL is one of the most developed, um, zombie type game around.

Requests For Features / Computer Map Power Up
« on: November 11, 2005, 07:37 »
How about making computer maps actually useful by allowing them to display power ups on the map, or for just one turn. This way the maps would be a welcome powerup if you are on low health or you hear scary noises around and you would like to know where to retreat to.

Discussion / Nuke?

First time I actually tried one was when losing against the cyberdaemon who unfortunately killed me before it went off.

The bomb still goes off after you are dead, so it should still kill him, at least that is what happens for me.  Last time this happened I was dead with 7 turns of the bomb to go, and I nuked the sob.

It has also been mentioned that there are at least two other ways to use the bomb...

Well, there are at least TWO other uses for it ;-).

Discussion / Common elements to victory

I use double shotty a lot for later levels, I take a few hits this way, but they die quick.

I hate the rocket too, can't use it most of the time without damaging or kiling myself.

I use shot guns for close encounters, I switch to this when exploring small rooms and tight corridors, I quick blast and you can duck around a wall.  Switch to chaingun or  plasma when exporing cities and open spaces.  For rockets I first locate a baddie then step back and prepare the launcher then blast it from a safe distance.   Never explore new terrain with a prepared rocket launcher!!

On topic, I don't "exploit" cateye

Yeah, I generally put this to level 1 or leave it alone, this make the game much more challenging. The cyberdemon certainly hits you a lot more and I am yet to beat him at CatEye level 0.  Cateye is expected to have less of an effect in future so start practising with out it.  (of course I posted a YAVP with using cateye so call me a hypocrite )

Discussion / I really like this game

Finally, what about dual-weild? At least for pistols!

Duel pistols would be kind of cool.  They would not stack up to the chaingun so they would not affect the play that much except add a different play style.
Quoting: gabba
Really high-level characters, or maybe one with a special trait, could be able to have heavier weapons in dual-weild with a pistol.

Duel weilding BFGs, Come to Pappa!!! Ok, Ok, unDoom(RL)-like but still cool!!

You guys are so inacurate... can't you say what you found? :P

Actually no one has posted "much" spoiler information as yet.  The great thing about this game is that you dont have to play for 1 year before you learn enough spoiler stuff to consider yourself an expert. (i am sure that will change in the forth coming releases) The plasma thing i'm talking about really is not spoily at all but I'll still let you find out for yourself. *evil grin*
As for the thermo...

Really? Besides showing it off to all your friends??  This game is full of suprises, not long ago I just found an interesting thing to do with the plasma rifle :-)

First I tought you bumped into Spider's Lair :->

No such luck, one of my favourite special levels, scared me big time the first time I stumbled into it. Hmm maybe Im a masochist.

Quoting: Kornel Kisielewicz
Kheh, yup, that's what it's meant to be for :-) - talk about "on the verge of death..." :-D

Yeah, love this ending...

Quoting: Kornel Kisielewicz
On level 18 he found hellish caves.
On level 19 he found hellish caves.
Ouch!

Last two caves had arachnatrons which dont drop ammo, so they left me high and dry for the ending.  I could of just run down the stairs but I never back away from a fight.

What the hell does the thermonuclear bomb do??? I never had the guts to try it out!

I think you can guess what the thermonuclear bomb does, just pick it up and when you are bored press that little red button.  You wont be dissapointed. I generally pick it up for that 'just in case all else fails' moment.

Though Id post this guy, I had some fun with him including a very bizarre cocktail party - see my discussion post about that :)  This was one doomed space marine.

This fella was almost completely out of ammo by the time he got to L20. Check out the number of arachnotron kills to account for this.  All I had was my trusty double s/g. I thought I could waste some shots into the centre to try to get him down a bit.  I walk round that corner and whamm, Cybie punches me in the face. I back off, wham rocket to the face. Holy Crap! health pack, dodge, WHAMM!! As I lay bleeding on the floor, I check my inventory for anything that may help.  A smile on my face apears as my hands fall upon a cold hard object...

Sgt. Gonads, level 7 soldier, sacrificed himself to kill the Cyberdemon
on level 20 of the Phobos base.
He survived 120555 turns and scored 36554 points.

He killed 476 out of 476 hellspawn. (100%)    //first time, yeehaw!!
This ass-kicking marine killed all of them!

 He found the Phobos Arena.
 He stormed the Chained Court.
He ventured into the Halls of Carnage.
 He fought on Hell's Arena.
He witnessed the City of Skulls.
 He faced The Wall.

My rugged good looks, my dry cool wit .. oh you mean in the game ;)

Tough as Nails 3, Eagle Eye 1 and Cateye 2

This is what I gennerally use- works well for me. I try to only use cateye to lev 1 now to give me more of a challenge.  Eagle eye is great for me.  I sometimes go for reloader but you just cant tell if this is effective.
